Most certainly, And be proud of him for making the decision.

I do not have a son nor will I have a son or a daughter for a very long time because I'm only 14 ,but when I eventually do have one I would let him go in the army only if it was something he really wanted to do ,but I would still worry like any other person about him and how he was and what could be wrong because I'm just like that I always worry a lot.

If I had a son I wouldn't be happy at all if he joined the army. But you can't stop someone doing something that they have their heart set on.
I don't believe in war. I am more for peace & tolerance =)

Number 2 son did join the Royal Marines Bex but was back within 7 weeks of the training. Although I didn't particually want him to join - if that's what he wanted to do so be it !!

No parent lets his son join the Army. It is the son's decision, and no one else's

If I wanted to join the army then I would want my parents to let me so its the same really.
However, I would make sure that he understands completely the ramifications of such a decision.

I am not a mother, as I am only 20 years old but I absolutely plan on having children when I'm good and ready. I would hope that I would support whatever decision my child makes, if they are making it for the right reasons. I would not want my child to grow up and be resentful because their parents held them back from something they wanted to do.

Not the Army. The Marines, I'd be very proud of him for following in his fathers foot steps. Its a wonderful oppurtunity for anyone. There is a guarenteed job and pay, health benefits and a sense of self respect and accomlishment.

Let's say this. He can join when he turns 18.
You can't stop him if he wants to.
So, really, this is a discussion that you need to have with him.
Not about "power" over him...but him making responsible decisions.
Parents should enable their children in decision making skills...not control or make decisions for them.
