For my religion final, I have to write and talk about a Catholic scholar/servant/saint/disciple of the church. There's so many people to choose from! Does anyone have any ideas?

Some restrictions
- the person must be Catholic
- can't be Mother Teresa or Pope John Paul II (people in my class already have those)
- there has to be a book written about them, like a biography

Please help! I'm open to all ideas.

Try American president John F. Kennedy. He was catholic, and there are a whole slew of books about him.

There is an autobiography of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus or the LIttle Flower. The autobiography is entitled the Story of a Soul. She is the patron saint of missionaries or the missions.
Another interesting person is St. Benedict and St. Scholastica. They were twins. St. Benedict founded the Benedictines. Many miracles are attributed to St. Benedict.
Others are St. John Baptist De La Salle. He is the patron saint of teachers. He founded the brothers of the Christian schools. Their mission was to help educate the young and the poor.
St. Mother Marie Eugenie is a recent Saint canonized by the Pope. She is the foundress of the religious of the Assumption. She wanted to transform society through Catholic Education.
There is also St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer. He is the founder of Opus Dei. He popularized the concept of the universal call to sanctity or the call to all men and women to become saints.
Saint Joseph is also interesting. He is the patron of the Church, good husbands and the patron of good death. and is known as the terror of demons. Mother Mary is also one of the greatest saints that ever lived. There are so many interesting books about her and several apparitions approved by the Church. She will crush the head of the serpent or the devil.
There is also St. John Bosco. He founded the Salesian order. Their mission is to take care of the youth and the poor.
There is also St. John Marie Vianney. He is the patron of parish priests. His life is very interesting. He wasn't very bright but he was holy. He was able to convert Ars from a mediocre parish to a parish where people started to become better Catholics.
There are also the apostles like St. Peter, St. John, etc. St. Peter was the head of the church.
St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael are saints but they are also archangels who are very powerful. St. Michael defeated satan in battle.
Other interesting catholics are Padre Pio, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Bernadette of Lourdes, Sr. Lucia of Fatima, Mother Angelica, Teresing Castillo of Lipa, John the 23rd, etc.

G.K. Chesterton wrote really good biographies of Saint Francis and Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Also, Saint Patrick wrote an autobiography and other people have written plenty on him.

St. Faustina Kowalska is an amazing person to due a report on. She was a mystic who brought the message of divine mercy to the world, and gave us the great work of her Diary. A quick amazon.com search should turn up quite a few biographies. She's pretty modern and very important.

Write about one of the Incorruptibles, like St. Bernadette of Lourdes, France. These are saints who died and their bodies did not decompose.

try Maxamalian Kolbe or a prsonal favorite.... Fr Solanus Casey. these are two people that are from "this era" but died before your time, however still quite relevant. i really like Fr Solanus becuase - he wasn't perfect, he wasn't "overly smart" but he had a love for Jesus that was all consuming. he shows that no matter who you are - you faith gives you strength.
