My 4 year-old has had a cold since Wednesday or Thursday. He is feeling better but still coughing a little bit & has a runny nose. When would it be ok to send him back to preschool? BTW, I would not make him go if he was feeling sick or would be contagious to others.

They are contagious aong as they are coughing and sneezing they are spilling out germs into the air around them. A week or less (if the cold seems to have dried up). It is good you are planning to keep him out. Not all mothers of preschool kids do that and that is probably where he got his cold from.

You're still contagious 7-10 days after you caught the virus - which may be about 3-5 days after you start feeling crummy. If he's not running a fever, and isn't coughing and can wipe his nose and wash his hands, he should be able to go back.
