How can people say Christianity and Islam are similar when they are so so different?

-The basic of Islam is that G-d has no son while the basic of Christianity is that G-d has a son.
-Muslims pray to G-d while Christians pray to a human.
-Islam bans so many things while christianity barely bans anything.
How are these similar?

Well both believe in one God to begin with.
Both believe in Jesus, but just in different ways.
Both believe in Moses, abraham etc
Both place emphasis in certain sins eg sex before marriage, adultery, homosexuality etc.
They're more similar than for example christianity with hinduism (I think, not that I know anything about hinduism)

But I see what you mean. I would say they are similar but at the same time different.

Christianity and Islam are very similar, in my opinion, and I'd say Christianity is by far the more dangerous of the two. i think they are very different, its so hard to explain about christianity cuz there are so many denominations but still get put in one and they all pay for the mistakes of another, but anyways i think that the main difference is that islam teaches to get rid of temptation by any means possible and christianity teaches to avoid them by having a close relationship with God.

I don't think they are similar at all. I think they are very separate religions with very different views about God. Christians don't pray to humans, we pray to Jesus, who is God.
