according to dictionary.com arrogance is:

overbearing pride evidenced by a superior manner toward inferiors .

offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride.

I like the offensive display of overbearing pride. But, I don't see where the connection is between being atheist and being arrogant. If you think about it a religious person is arrogant to because they are always feeling superior. They are always claiming that they will be saved that others are doomed. That others are doing wrong except them. That is a show of arrogance.

The assumption of arrogance come from the belief that God due in fact exist. However, there is no real proof that God exist just as there is no proof that God doesn't. Can you go to a court of law and prove that God exist? of course not. That is why is called a belief. Belief are not based on fact.

here are 4 definitions given by dictionary.com:

1. something believed; an opinion or conviction: a belief that the earth is flat.
2. confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof: a statement unworthy of belief.
3. confidence; faith; trust: a child's belief in his parents.
4. a religious tenet or tenets; religious creed or faith: the Christian belief.

One to pay close attention to is the proof one. The part about rigorous proof. Anyways, because of this lack of being able to prove Gods existance, then anything said about God is a valid statement. So, saying that you need God in your daily life is a valid statement because it could be that you do truly need God in your daily life. Even if just as a belief. By the same token saying that you do not need God on your daily life is also a valid statement again, because we are talking about things that are unprovable. So, both people are right in their statements and belief. By this logic then neither statement is necessarily arrogance. It all depends on how its said. There is a difference between saying 1) I do not need God and 2) I do not need God and you are an idiot for believing in such silliness. One is a true statement for a particular person the other one is an opinion/attack. Just voicing ones opinion does not means automatic arrogance.

If you take the time to listen to atheists, you will discover that many have walked away from God, because they felt God walked away fromt hem.

At a time of desperate crisis, praying to God for help or intervention, nothing came.

Since God did not render assistance, then what good is He? I will have to handle my own problems.

Now, nothing really stops God from making an appearance that is of such an epiphany, it is truly life-changing.

What is He waiting for?

Why would atheists think they "don't need" God to help them when they don't even believe God exists?

Don't know if you got what I mean, but I'm sure someone will.

Actually its sad that the only reason many people believe in God is that they need someone to help them with life's problems. Kind of like people who get married because they need someone to take care of them. Then there are others who believe in God just because they are afraid not to. I've got a Catholic friend who admitted he doesn't really believe - but he goes to church every Sunday "just in case there really is a God."

Not nearly as arrogant as believing that God made one uniquely and with a purpose for this earth, while babies are starving to death all over the earth.

I admit to being a college scholar who works a quickly food interest, yet human beings consistently hand me what I call "Jesus pamphlets" and are available TO MY front DOOR and pester me approximately it. some situations I even have been interrupted for the period of super intercourse with my boyfriend, and it royally pissed me off. i've got faith that if i've got faith curious some faith, I could be waiting to return to the church's front door and ask for techniques or to sit down down in on mass. i do no longer want it shoved down my throat. If I ever come to a call to hop on the spirituality prepare, i'm going to first be observing Shinto, Buddhism, and different jap religions by way of fact the individuals I even have met who partake in those religions are no longer pompous, elititst assholes. You can't need what you don't believe in.

Do you think it's arrogant that christians feel they don't need one of the many other gods that people of other religions believe in to help them with life's problems?

It isn't that we think we don't "need" God, we simply don't believe there is one. Therefore, we do handle all of our problems ourselves. It isn't about atheist looking down on your "god" or lack there of, it is about living how we believe. That isn't arrogance.

We could say the same for Christians. Is it arrogant that they believe that "GOD" will take care of everything, that they don't "need" to work, or do for themselves, just pray to god?
