Hi, My cat's drink water from a bowl that i have to have at the side of my fireplace, they will not drink it from their water bowl. They also drink the rainwater that has been caught outside. I had one cat that would only drink from the tap in the bathroom sink, Ahhh well cat's are cat's and only do what they want to do and when they want to do it.

I have heard one theory that might apply here. Cats have a very keen sense of smell, and if the water bowl isn't rinsed properly, it can detect the odor of your dish soap. Either overkill with the rinsing or try switching to an odorless soap. Another is that they can detect the chemicals in the water. Switch to giving them filtered water. Get a Brita pitcher or something like that. It's healthier for them anyway. The reason why they are willing to drink "dirty" water, such as out of puddles, is because although it's dirty it's more natural. Toilet water, I don't know why that would be appealing.....LOL But wait, I found this and it makes some sense: "I heard it was because water that sits has time for the chlorine to evaporate." You could try getting a pet fountain. Apparently the moving water attracts some cats.

There is so many things that could be in the toilet, and you really shouldn't let any animal drink out of there. Keep the lid down and the can't. As for the bath, is that while your taking a bath? I don't see any thing wrong with that unless you have something in the water that isn't pet friendly.

I keep my toilet lid closed so my kitty can't drink from the toilet. I used to have a leak in my bathtub, and my cat would drink the water from there. She clearly wasn't bothered by the water dripping on her head. When my boyfriend stayed over, she would bump his hand with her wet head.
Now that the leak has long since been fixed, she likes to drink water from a cup. I have a CatIt Fountain, which she liked for a couple of weeks, but she ignores that for the most part.

yes it did
If yours does, make sure you do not use those toilet-cleaning pucks, like 2000 flushes or Saniflush. I'm thinking maybe thats why my dear pet cat got very sick and died
It had a regular clean bowl with fresh water too, but cats have a mind of their own, and don't always do things the way their supposed to or the way we think they should. My cat also drank water from the porch in the winter, which had some environmentally friendly, non-corrosive ice-melter, and I couldn't stop the cat from trying to drink that instead of fresh water in a clean bowl. Maybe it prefers something with any taste to it, but unfortunately it got sick somehow. It could have been from the pet-food scandal instead, because it got sick around the same time that was in the news.
Keep your cat away from chemicals we use in our day-to-day lives.

Its very rare my cats drink from their own bowl. However when im in the bath room i have a cup i usually fill with water so i can water the plants and ive noticed that they both drink from this cup. I remember my old cat used to drink from the tap if you left it running.
Also i dont give my cats milk as it gives them diarroeha (very smelly too)

No, but my parents have this cool drinking fountain for one of their cats. It filters the water and comes out in a stream.
My cat didn't like it, so I gave it to them. Benadriel drinks water from her bowl only.

My cats don't drink from the tub or the toilet but LOVE to drink from the bathroom sink facet. They come running just hearing it turned on. They always have fresh clean water in their bowls and will drink from them but their favorite is the sink in the bathroom.

One of my cats cries in the bathroom for me to turn the faucet on in the shower. She gets up on the tub edge and drinks. She doesn't care that she has a water bowl or a water dome with running water.

Only if their water dish is empty...and that has only happened over night once so they were in the tub wanting water so I noticed they were out and filled the bowl...they like to watch the toilet flush though
