directx 9.0?

i bought the pc game sims 2 and it wont let me play it because it says i need directx 9.0 to play. i have downloaded this like 20 times and it still says that i dont have it . so i uninstall it and try again. i dont know if i am doing something wrong or whats the problem

Did you update your video drivers as well?

Did you download Direct X 9.0C this is the latest, also go the http://thesims2.com and see if there are any recent patches.
