It really depends on what you believe.
I'm a traditional witch, so I believe that we go to the spirit world to be with our ancestors and to rest until we are reborn. Some spirits serve as spirit guides during the period before rebirth.

When you die, it is similar to when you sleep. I believe that we often leave our body in our sleep, enter the spiritual realm, and return to our body before we wake. The reason dreams can seem really real, is because the often are, but in the spiritual realm. When we die, we will have to find a new fresh body, that fits our needs. Reincarnation of the continuous type, respects the realitiy of this universe. It does not allow for escape, to an alternative reality more to ones liking. The struggle of life is good for the human spirit, keeps it developing and well exercised. The problems of this world need to be the focus. Being good at dealing with the problems of this world, will make ones spirit both strong and moral, which will serve it well in its future lives to come.

The same thing that happens to a flower or a bunny or an elephant. I cease to exist. Just like before I was born.

have you ever seen a herse roll by and think that someday you too would die?
They put you in a box so neat! They bury you under bout six foot deep!
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out! They're in your stomach and out you mouth!
Your body turns a ghastly green! And puss rolls out like shaving cream!

I believe in a combination of heaven/reincarnation. If you're an old soul you aren't very religious or you're more laid back, and you go to heaven between intervals or when you're done with life.

When we die we are dead, this apparently seems surprising to some I know... but that's the way it is.

Depends. Did you choose Jesus as Savior or reject him?
" I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me". -- Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6)
" Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved". (Acts 4:12)
