Not too conserned, I believe in god and if youve been a good little human, then watever. Its kind of creepy with all the theories, Im most scared of nuclear holocaust. Just live your life and help others. Now live your life like you only have 4 years to live. It will make the world a better place for four years until its proven wrong, everyone gets pissed off, and starts being all stupid and idiotic and hate each other again. I love life, but think about it, destroying the atmosphere, global warming, hunting animals to extiction. Im sad to say we kinda deserve it. Im 13, not really conserned, even though I may die before I graduate, or lose my virginity. GASP! Just chill, its not like we can stop it if its coming.

Some scientist? Which scientist? You mean to say that some people believe that the world is going to end in 2012. Anybody can call themselves a scientist but to be a true scientist means that you have to live by a certain dicipline. This dicipline is called proof. Proof is another word for evidence. The 2012 things has to do with the mayan calendar the most accurate calendar in the world. The calendar ends in 2012 but the mayan things that things are cyclical not linear. The year 2012 signifies a new beggining or a return of something. There is also some weird alighnment of the stars that has happened before and the mayans where able to predict. To some people the alignments of stars have great significanse but in reality it is only significant as far as observing the cosmos goes. The stars do not influence what will happen. Also, we don't really trully understand the mayan culture. What people are doing is giving western european philosophy to a different culture. MAybe to the Mayans the year 2012 is the happier year on erath. Or simply they ran out of wall space and did not go beyond the year 2012. Even simpler, maybe they did not see the need to add the later years. I mean, do you need to have a calendar that will extend to the year 4053? No, you don't all you need is a few years. AFter that somebody else will add the rest later on.

I would worry more about 2028 or 2026 when they say that an asteroid will pass very close to the earth. So, close that it will go under our satelites. Scientist, say that we will be saved that year but the problem is that that same asteroid will come back 7 years later. Depending on the gravitational influence on that asteroid by the earth the second time around could be trouble for us.

Anyways, have this people explain to you how exactly the world is going to end in 2012 and then you can start thinking about whether is a possibility or not.

Read Daniel 12:1 the arch angel stands in this generation.

Ironic is 2012 the year has something to do with the 13 zodiac or the serpent holder.

Be it you think things are going to improve, think again, not till this age ends. Far More than just the weather patterns are collapsing already and it has nothing to do with carbon in the air.

2012 does have something to do with white and blue as well as daniel 12:1

And get this a 1 sword and 2 smile

2012 is sometimes claimed to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). Many esoteric sources interpret the completion of the thirteenth B'ak'tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar (which occurs on December 21 by the most widely held correlation) to mean there will be a major change in world order.

Accordingly, several eclectic authors claim that a major, world-changing event will take place in 2012:

* The 1995 book The Mayan Prophecies linked the Maya calendar with long-period sunspot cycles.
* The book 2012: Mayan Year of Destiny claims the Maya may have been instructed in their wisdom by disembodied entities from Orion and the Pleiades. Contact was maintained through shamanic rituals conducted in accordance with the movements of planets and stars. However, some Mayan priests living and working in Guatemala assert that there is no legitimacy to this theory.
* The 1997 book The Bible Code claims that, according to certain algorithms of the Bible code, a meteor, asteroid or comet will collide with the Earth.
* The book The Nostradamus Code speaks of a series of natural disasters caused by a comet (possibly as above) that will allow the third Antichrist to disperse his troops around the globe under the guise of aid in preparation for a possible nuclear war, although in the strictest sense it is unspecific as to nuclear war or some other natural or man caused destruction.
* The book The Orion Prophecy claims that the Earth's magnetic field will reverse.
* The 2005 book Beyond 2012: Catastrophe or Ecstasy by Geoff Stray reviews several theories, prophecies and predictions concerning 2012 and finds where authors have used faulty information or have bent the truth to fit their theories.
* The 2006 book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl by Daniel Pinchbeck discusses theories of a possible global awakening to psychic connection by the year 2012, creating a noosphere.
* The 2007 book Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation into Civilization's End by Lawrence Joseph does not make any specific new predictions, but it reviews a number of 2012 predictions made by various sources, and presents arguments for the possible existence of dangerous positive feedback loops involving solar storms, Earth's magnetic field, cosmic rays, hurricanes, global warming, earthquakes, and supervolcanoes that may be on the verge of erupting.

Other prophecies and apocalyptic writings and hypotheses for this year include:

* Terence McKenna's mathematical novelty theory suggests a point of singularity in which humankind will go through a great shift in consciousness.
* Some proponents of a peak oil catastrophe place major events in 2012. Richard C. Duncan's book The Peak of World Oil Production and the Road To The Olduvai Gorge claims that the Olduvai cliff will begin and permanent blackouts will occur worldwide. Several studies predict a peak in oil production in or around 2012. [13][14][15]
* Some alien-enthusiasts (e.g. Riley Martin), along with some new-agers, believe 2012 to correspond approximately with the return of alien "watchers" or "caretakers" who might have helped the first human civilizations with developing their technology and may have been waiting for us to reach a higher level of technological and/or social advancement. Beliefs range from the extra-terrestrials having benevolent purposes — such as to help human society evolve — to malevolent purposes — such as enslavement of mankind and/or manipulation.
* There is a Hindu following indicating the appearance of an Avatar (God in human form) with God-like powers who will herald a new age. A website to this effect appears at: End of the World 2012

I too have heard this. There must be a cleansing of the earth for the beginning of a new era. When Mother Earth has held her own until she must shake off the dross which mankind has sealed off her life force she must exhale and breath in new life. I'm sorry to say, but I believe she is nauseated and sick to the stomach. She will reel, rock, vomit, convulse and with the regurgitation throw off the poison. In this cleansing it will take the very thing away that has poisoned her. Us. Then after the cleansing there will be a new beginning and new life. A garden of Eden if you please. This is not the first time this has happened, and it will not be the last, it is a shame that we seem to never learn not to destroy the very thing that is our life support. The darkest hour is just before dawn.

Its kinda like the Da Vinci Code. The Mayan calender ends in 2012. But the truth is that this is just as far as they had it worked out. If there were any Mayan around today-they could run their calendar out a few more hundred years and everyone would be happy again.

*drink*

This is based on what? the mayan calendar?

The mayan calendar was carved onto a rock. The rock is only so big, so it only goes so far into the future.

Want to really mess with everyones head a few hundred years from now? Make a calendar and have it stop in the middle of a month for no apparent reason - no one would ever think you got bored and moved on to bigger and better things.

Just another year. The earth has been doomed to destruction since the invention of the calander. If I had a nickel everytime someone predicted it would end and it didn't I would be one rich guy.

I think people will deny what rubbish they spouted come 2013.
