My son was diagnosed with cancer at 11 months (High risk pre-cursor B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) and I am searching the bible for words of comfort but am finding few (it's a huge book, it will take a while to find a bunch). I am thinking of writing a verse on the calendar every day so I can turn to it when in need. Anyone have some words of strength and encouragement off the tops of their heads? The road is bumpy ahead and it will only get bumpier, he's at an intensification phase in his chemo and I'm scared out of my witts.

I pray these Scriptures are what you seek! God is faithful!

Ps 30:2 LORD, my God, I prayed to you, and you healed me.

Ps 103:2 My whole being, praise the LORD and do not forget all his kindnesses. 3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.

Ps 107:20 God gave the command and healed them, so they were saved from dying. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his love and for the miracles he does for people.

Ps 118:17 I will not die, but live, and I will tell what the LORD has done.

Ps 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

Prov 4:20 My child, pay attention to my words; listen closely to what I say. 21 Don't ever forget my words; keep them always in mind. 22 They are the key to life for those who find them; they bring health to the whole body.

Isa 58:8 Then your light will shine like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your God will walk before you, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. 9 Then you will call out, and the LORD will answer. You will cry out, and he will say, 'Here I am.'

Jer 17:14 Jeremiah's Third Complaint
LORD, heal me, and I will truly be healed. Save me, and I will truly be saved. You are the one I praise.

Jer 30:17 I will bring back your health and heal your injuries," says the LORD,

James 5:14 Anyone who is sick should call the church's elders. They should pray for and pour oil on the person in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer that is said with faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will heal that person. And if the person has sinned, the sins will be forgiven.

1 Peter 2:24 Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And you are healed because of his wounds.

3 John 2 My dear friend, I know your soul is doing fine, and I pray that you are doing well in every way and that your health is good.

I am so very sorry to hear about your precious son. As for scriptures, I would say any of the Psalms as they give much peace. However, in times such as this, I have always founf prayer to be my source of peace and it fortifies my spirit too!

I have a daughter who is in need of a transplant. She has been very close to death, more than I care to mention; however, God's peace, love and strength, helped me through moments, many Mom's could not handle! He can and will do the same for you.

My heart is heavy and burdened as I pray noone would ever have to know this kind of pain. However, my own situation gives me a chance to understand this walk, more! In as much, know I will be pouring my heart out to the Lord, on behalf of your child and your family...these things always affect the family too. May God be your strength in the coming days and I ask Him, if it be His will, that He take this from your child and restore him with good health.

Praying and if you need to talk, just e-mail me.

I am so sorry to hear about your son.

I can't imagine what you are going through, but I am sure he is lucky to have a strong mother by his side. You are clearly there for him, and that makes his life allot better.

I hope that someone somewhere can help him medically.

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I recently watched a program on one of the science channels that was about advances in gene therapy and the discovery of epi-genes. There have been preliminary studies with cancer patients that looked promising, maybe your doctor could look into it?

Hang in there, I am hoping things will work out for the better for all of you.

Hear what comfortable words our Saviour Christ saith unto all that truly turn to him.

COME unto me all that labour and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you. St. Matthew 11.28.

God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not
perish, but have eternal life. St. John 3.16

Hear also what Saint Paul saith.

This is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners. 1 Timothy 1.15

Hear also what Saint John saith.

If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the propitiation
for our sins. 1 St. John 2.1,2.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's condition. Yes, you are doing the right thing by turning to God's Word for strength and encouragement. God honours your faith, and He is faithful to turn things around for good.

"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds," says the Lord. (Jeremiah 30:17)

"With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation." (Psalm 91:16)

"I shall not die, but live,
And declare the works of the Lord." (Psalm 118:17)

"The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
to the soul who seeks Him." (Lamentations 3:25)

"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32)

There are many words of comfort in the Psalms. Here are a few, but you may just want to kind of skim through this book on your own. King David wrote these poems at all different points in his life, and some of them are about praying to God for comfort and hope in times of sorrow, sickness, and despair, while others are about trusting Him and praising Him despite circumstances we don't understand. I will include a few Scripture references below. I would also recommend you go to a site like biblegateway.com and type in a topic you want (peace, hope, comfort, sickness, healing) and see what Scriptures come up. It is a wonderful Bible search engine you can look up in different translations by passage, keyword, or topic. There are also other good websites such as crosswalk.com that have daily devotionals--some of these you may find helpful.

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
3 He has put a new song in my mouth—
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the LORD.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.
(The whole fourth Chapter of Philippians is about God's grace and joy despite circumstances.)

No one wishes to walk through adversity, but I will tell you as someone who has been there, that I can look back now and see God's hand at work to bring me through it, and it was during those times that I felt the closest to Him, because I knew I was at the end of myself.

God bless you--may you find comfort & peace during this difficult time!

Bless your heart. My niece who is a nurse, lost her daughter at age 8 to cancer. I wish I could give you more words and places to look...............but it seems everyone else has already done so, and done well!! Now, can you call your local church OR the one that you are attending possibly to ask for assistance? They will be more support to you and your loved ones in person, rather than here on YA. That is what my niece did. She joined a support group through her church and remained in her bible study group. She said she didn't know what she would have done with them. My deepest blessing and please stay strong, pray hard, and try to get faithful support.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. - Psalm 121

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4:8.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.

Psalm 73
