Nina, the Bible says that there is none who seek God and there is none who does good. (Psalm 14). The Bible further says that there is none righteous, not even one. (Romans 3:10)

All men are born in sin and by nature are spiritually dead. Men left in their spiritually dead state are unable of themselves to repent, to believe the Gospel, or to obey God.

The salvation is an act of triune God whereby, the Holy Spirit enlightens our minds with the gospel and creates within us a new heart and enables us to understand and believe spiritual truth. This is accomplished through regeneration (born again) by which a sinner like me is made a child of god and is given a spiritual life.

I recognize a personal need for the Savior Jesus Christ ONLY because the Spirit has regenerated me and has enabled me to trust in Christ ALONE for my salvation.

I know that I need Jesus. Here's a few words from Paul about those who are trusting their works.

Gal 3:1-3 Oh, foolish Galatians! What magician has cast an evil spell on you? For you used to see the meaning of Jesus Christ's death as clearly as though I had shown you a signboard with a picture of Christ dying on the cross. Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by keeping the law? Of course not, for the Holy spirit came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about Christ. Have you lost your senses? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect BY YOUR OWN EFFORT????

Dear Nina,

Now that Jesus Christ is my Savior I recognize my need for Him each day. Before I got to the end of SELF I thought I was doing fine with my works but I thought wrong. In many cases my so called good works solved one problem and created four others.

Now I can see that we are saved to DO good works.
We are NOT saved by good works.

For His glory,
JOYfilled

I need the Savior Jesus Christ. I go off track and realize my need to look to Him. I can not make it without Him and it becomes evident when I try (without realizing I am). I can not live without HIM

Frank Sinatra (ol' blue eyes) sang a song called "My Way", in which the lyrics surely praise human autonomy, being one's own choices in life. Yet, King Solomon once wisely said, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12) And, Jesus said, "I am the Way... (John 14:6a), "I am the gate; by which whoever enters in will be saved." (John 10:9) "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14) This wide gate that Jesus refers to is the gate of one's own choices; human autonomy. The small gate is a life of obedient surrender of one's will to Jesus.

So, to me, it comes down to whom (or Whom) do you trust? Your own works described plainly in the lyrics of the song by Frank Sinatra, or God's Word? (This is not a hard one, folks!) I'd say the latter gets the prize with me!

If I trusted my works to Save me, I would be a sorry failure. I needed Jesus to Justify me by His work on the Cross, and to take away my unrighteousness, and cover me in His righteousness ! God Bless you, Sister !

I realize I need my Savior.

I'm nothing by a wretched sinner without Him.

Nothing I could ever do would be greater than what Jesus did on the Cross.

Thank You Jesus.

I really do. I am so thankful my salvation is not about me. Works are good and we want to do them, but I need Jesus for my salvation.
