First of all: I'm thirteen
Second of all: My pmom, dad and her twin 7 year old sister are coming too. (my dad really hates flying)
Third of all: We're leaving Tuesday so everything is already set, the plane tickets and all that so please don't suggest train riding or other airlines

Just talk to her a lot. Conversation works! Ask her a lot of questions. I doubt she's gonna wanna draw or color. Have her listen to her Ipod! Thats a great older brother she's got there!

Play cards with her, if you have a video iPod or some sort of portable video player, that's pretty much gold, play tic-tac-toe, tell her to sleep, have her shut her eyes and pretend she's in a car, bet her money you'll live, tell her about all the flights you or someone else has been on and lived, get her a book, or if she doesn't read well yet, read to her, tell her to shut her eyes and imagine what you tell her, and talk about a beach or being at home or in a jungle or whatever (you know her better than I do, what would appeal to her?), tell her stories, play games like board games or crossword puzzles or have her draw or write or colour with crayons or coloured pencils or something, or give her her favourite candy. Make sure to shut the window so she can't see out. Try to convince her flying is fun. Give her a Gameboy or Nintendo DS or some handheld of your choice, or some sort of toy. By the way, I think it's adorable that you care about your little sister so much! Hope I helped! Good luck with the ride!

Take a portable DVD player with some of her favorite movies for her to watch. You might even want to buy a new movie that she really wants right before the trip, but don't give it to her until you're on the plane and maybe she'll be so excited that she won't think about being afraid anymore.

Give her some coloring/activity books, a book to read that she enjoys...some headphones....a portable dvd player if those are allowed on airplanes (I'm not sure...) and let her watch a movie she enjoys...a deck of cards?...play a game with her. Just think about what she enjoys doing when she's not flying and try to use that to entertain her while you're on your trip. Good luck!

She has seen the horror on TV news. Bless her heart.

How about going by train. It is so much fun and it will be for you too.

OR take her to a counselor.

P.S.
My daughter is now 48 years old and hates flying too. They never grow out of it.

With all the things we have to endure at the airports, plus layovers, I no longer fly.

what does she take interest in? consider what she does when she is enjoying herself. find a magazine on the subject , point to it and pull her focus away from the planes taking off. distraction works most of the time.
