I think that if we had losers like this during WWII we would be speaking German and Japanese right now.
In today's morally depraved society you will always find a few people that will make stupid statements so everyone will look at them. People that will criticize everything they can so they can get attention.
You have to take there asinine statements with a filter of intelligence. I thank God that I have never met a single member of my brotherhood (US Military) that had anything but good to say about the work we are doing in Iraq right now. That in itself says so much more that anything these idiots say on some Liberal based protest.
I firmly believe that the Liberals are going to be so happy when we get attacked on our home land because they had to downplay anything that a Republican leadership would do.

I'd be careful if i were you dude.

this video tends to be misleading in a LOT of ways.

1.they don't tell you their names or which rank they had.
2. the sound like enlisted personnel. the enlisted are not supposed to think and criticize, that's the officer's job
3. A lot of this dudes joined for the wrong reasons or illusions like the one who joined thinking it was an adventure,
4. the military exist to defend democracy- not enforce it.
5. when you join the military you give away all your rights, including giving your opinions.
6. when you join the military, you have to accept the fact that you may or will see some nasty stuff and you may result with a emotional trauma.
7.one of those who spoke looked like he was in Vietnam.
8. the uniforms they wore were from the 2003-2006 period of the war, when things were sour and the military used the wrong tactics and strategies.
9. this video was released on December 2006 . the surge of 2007 did not began till march.
10. by the way they tell about being mislead by the recruiters, they have mislead themself by no checking things independently like most are supposed to.
11. They never tell you which unit they were during the war.

If you're going to join the military- checks thing independently and join without illusions of glory or that you may avoid combat. You may or will see combat and if you do you better prepare mentally for the worst. If the worst does happen then you knew this could happen, if not then be thanksful

Are we supposed to be surprised by this?? There have always been soldiers who failed to realize what they were getting into. War throughout history has been immoral and inhumane. Why is this news to us? Was this war supposed to be different? I have given a lot of thought to joining the military and I have no illusions about what that means for me. The deciding factor for me was my kids. Taking risks with my own life and humanity is my choice but when that impacts the lives of my children, I have to reconsider. The video doesn't really change things for me, that is war. I'm not saying its right, people just need to realize what it really means to be a soldier and make an informed decision.

My 20 year old brother is in Baghdad, Iraq. He is already 2 1/2 years in. He enlisted even before he graduated from high school. He is in until 2013. He re-enlisted for another 3 years, AFTER getting to Baghdad.
I don't think you should listen to anyone else about something like this. It is good to make a decision based on pros and cons. BUT, the only person who can decide to serve their country is yourself. I hope if you do go, you have a strong support system around you, you will need it.
It will be a tough decision, ultimately, and it will test your strengths, mentally, physically, emotionally, but it could be the best decision you have ever made in your life.

All the best.

The anger I feel brings tears to my eyes and the shakes. That video was true to a degree, yes, it is hard and scary to fight ovr there and wonder if you will come home, but if you are gonna whine about it, leave it up to the real Americans to do the fighting for you and stit back on a computer knocking them with not enough guts to tell it to their face. I think the people on the video who calim to be soliders bring a disgrace to the term. Soliders are also not taught to just respond, yeah they have to follow orders, but they also have to make decisions everyday over there that may save their lives and the lives of the rest of their platoon, or get them all killed.

I still plan on joining the Marines in order to serve my country and the people i love.

this movie only shows one side on the war. in everywar there are all ways troops who don't belive in the cause. this is because you can never make everyone happy. this person has this view...this person has another... and then a wacko has a completly FUBARish view.

well the thing is ever since the end of WW2 america has turned into a bunch of crybabies. if you don't belive me look at Iraq. Just because the war wasn't over when they wanted it to be American's have began to ***** about it. the thing is we either fight them here later or over there now.

this is why this movie means **** to me.

I did 25 years in the Navy. Eight of those years with Fleet Marines. Did a tour in 'Nam with a Marine Battalion. So, I paid attention to the one guy in the video who was clean-shaven and young-looking. I don't know where he got the crap about soldiers refusing to fight during Vietnam. I sure can't remember any event like that.
As for the female, We both know she wasn't in a combat arms assignment. That's forbidden by law. As for the graphic footage of civilian casualties, it seems passing strange to me that the narrator didn't point out that they were caused by IEDs exploded by the enemy.
I can't say for sure, but that guy who had over ten years in and was a medic may have been the one who refused assignment into Iraq and was court-martialed and tossed out of the Army. The face looks familiar. The rest of them seem to have done quite well as civilians after their terms of service. They really chowed down when they got home.
All that aside, I'd sure like to get a peek at some of their DD-214s. I suspect some of them didn't serve where they say they served.

Ok here comes a long answer:

About the military. Its not only in my family that most members have served this country, and of coutry its not gonna be the greatest thing becuase if it was, EVERYONE would join. Its a duty, an obligation, a calling. Yea not alot of people like it when they are in becuase of the fact its not like home and not alot of folks are cut out for the military, weather or not bootcamp filiters them out. Hence why u have a contract, serve it, if u like it stay... if not leave. No offense to anyone who doesnt like or does like our military, but life is life.

About the video. I dont want to slam the video but i will. First and formost, anyone can make a video for or against the military and there is alot of things the recruiter lies so u can jsut sign.... thats thier job. If you honestly belive everything they say, "pity on the fool". The black girl on the video states that she would never tell anyone what she saw in Iraq... ok first... its WAR, not a party. I mean all respect for her but of course it will all be bad. The man talking about the part "when you join the military they take everything away from you, even your underwear. You dont get to call anybody or anything." Of course they take ur clothes becuase your not ready. And bootcamp has to do such things becuase some people need to be rebuilt, so u strip them from being an individual and turn them into a team-player. As for the phone call... you get to call in the begining to say "i'm here, i'm safe, bye." and u call people at the end to set up graduation day transportation and what not. You have to keep in mind, bootcamp is there for a reason.... it wasnt made into a luxury, if so, then why the hell would we all not be in it? I'm glad they strip us down of everything, becuase i have to KNOW i can trust the guy next to me with my life... just becuase Joe is will protect me doesnt mean Smith will. For the next man talking about the soldier and how he obeys what ever he is told... this is so becuase the fate or a nation, or a mass group of people is at stake. If everyone tried to be a hero, we wouldnt be a nation today. Its simple, there are leaders and then there are followers. If your not a leader then u follow, but jsut becuase u do so, doesnt mean your not helpful. Its a fine oiled machine.

Now to the recruiting part with the white gentleman and the black gentleman... you have to be low on ur iq scores. Recruiters are salesmen for the military... yea they lie, becuase there life depeneds on makeing people join thier branch. The military does pay for college, they actually give u alot of money ( GI BILL ) on top of free living ( food, recreantional facilities, housing, tax-free pay, health care, life insureance, guarenteed job, etc. ). About the "American Way". There is no other way to be most American then to protect this free country and spread Liberty and Freedom.

The Iraqi people are free. You have to understand this, talk to military personell... we ARE NOT in there for oil, its becuase Saddam started a Riech and killed thousands and tortured millions of people, just becuase he can. Iraqis are happy now.. women are free..sports are free...children can learn and families dont have to worries about death in thier everyday lifes!

Overall...its your choice to join or not to join. You have to understand what your getting yourself into, you really do. If u just sign in go, then why complain about it, its your fualt u didnt do research. I'm not saying the military is bad, but right now we are in war, what else can we do? I am leaving for basic training with the Marine Corps in the next June. I have plenty of friends and family in the military, and i have made my choice. Dont base your decision off of one person's view or a video. Do research and decide.

Thanks for your time, and i hope you pick what will make your trully happy.

( Good Topic BTW )

You want your degree or GED to get whatever rather then infantry, however why become a member of the Army? You are larger off within the Air Force or Navy, they a minimum of get a larger pleasant of lifestyles and the educational will switch to the civilian global larger than "I can shoot cannons"....

Losers who could not make it in the military. I could make one and interview the people I want and show you how it is the greatest thing in the world. Don't believ myspace. It is made up of immature little kids pressing some agenda. It proves nothing. It is a farce. If you do believe this stuff, you are not smart enought to go in the military anyway.
