Your oven could have been to cool or to much flour was in your recipe.

Sometime too much shortening, butter or oil will make a cake overly tender and crumbly.

The answers were great before me, but if you want you can add 1/4 cup of mayonnaise to the batter. Try less just to be safe. Your cake will be moist just like you see in stores and commercials.

not enough moisture. whether overbaked, or not enough water/milk/eggs/oil. whatever ingredient it has, must not be enough
