I want to be able to read to the children. Why don't they think of the children? Why?

Greetings...

The bible forbids mankind to add or take away from God's word as we see here:

Revelations 22:18 & 19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I suggest that you stop looking for a G-rated bible which would be a sin in itself as stated above and should not exist, but rather go to a Christian Bookstore and purchase a children's picture or story bible that will conservatively offer the values God desired to teach his children.

In todays world, it is a must that your children as well as all children be taught about these very things you are trying to keep from them.... once they are old enough to understand and comprehend it. Beforehand, when they are too young concentrate on the less intense areas of the bible.

I dare say that the bible would have not had to be written.... if it wasn't for sexual misconduct and violence!

Are you kidding or is this a serious question?

If you want to read things to children get a book of children's Bible stories.

The Bible is God's word to us and it is not intended as children's literature.

What sex, what violence?? The Bible is what it is no less and no more. Everything in the Bible is for teaching. If you find a G rated Bible...it'll be a changed bible....And God said if anyone rewrote any words of the bible to suit their needs, that was an unforgivable sin. I'd watch myself if I were you! Be careful for what you wish for.

Donna, you need to be a good and humble woman. You KNOW that children must be terrorized.

The Bush administration has created many more jails, they need people. So make sure you force feed a diet of religion to your children. That way, in 20 years, we'll have someone to execute when they go bonkers and take out a bunch of women who don't know their place, as you do.

You can't. Are you trying to fill the little children's minds and hearts with an unreal view of what happened? If you really want to leave out the violence and stuff, just stick with the parables of Jesus. And that would actually be sufficient to making the kids grow up with really good values, while leaving out all of the stuff they don't really need anyway.

I used to sell children's Bibles door to door, and they are full of violence.

God wants us to teach our children all about His tough love for us. This must include the sex and violence.

Early Christian religions believed that the God of the Old Testament was actually the Devil because He is so Wrathful. Just explain these things to them in a way that they can understand.

A G-rated Bible would have less than 3 pages...

whats so bad about exposing children to sex and violence? you can't hide it from them forever. also, since the bible is supposedly gods word, you'd have to ask him why he wasn't thinking of the children

I found one at the Library. Its more of a storybook than an actual Bible.
