There are several successful professional fighters who had little or no amateur experience.
One is Curtis Cokes who was world welterweight champion in late 1960s.
That was when there was only one champion and only 8 divisions.

if boxing is about boxing, then how come could anyone become successful without boxing????

oscar de la hoya is quiet successful and he doesnt box very often, but then he had his share of fights before getting as successful as he got
