Yes, I'm referring to "eternal life", murder, rape, stealing, and what not.

Rev. Albert Einstein: Just so you know, Einstein was not a Christian and did not believe in a personal god. He was pantheist. Look it up.

You mean like eternal life, freedom from Satanic bondage, and healing of the soul?

Apparently you missed the whole point of why Jesus came.

Peace :)
Religion is a way of life, and an objective view of Christianity would be that the religion as a whole is a series of rituals, set beliefs, which encompasses some things being permitted and others being prohibited.
That's the nature of humans, we need to create order and structure.. some people need told what to do, it's comforting for some.
Also a believer would say, God knows best, and he knows what is best for us and he will create rules and guidance because he knows what is happening and how it will end

Why do parents disaprove of so many things. Don't play in the street. Don't eat candy before dinner. Don't touch anything on the stove. Don't sit close to the TV. It is because they love their kids. It is the same with God. He loves us and therefore sets boundaries for our own protection.

Most of the things that are not allowed are sin. Why? Because God knows that these things only lead to temporary fulfillment. Once that wears off, we are more miserable than we expected. These things are prohibited because it breaks our relationship with God and causes heartache. He is also looking to protect us. Once you do have a relationship w/God, these things no longer are appealing.

You're going to have to be more specific. Like what?

The only things that are "disapproved of" in Christianity are things that are detrimental to the person doing something, or detrimental to society.

Makes sense to me.

Isn't it all in your perspective? I look at my faith and see what God tells me is right and encourages me to live my life in a manner that supports it.
Human nature of course, with the enemy whispering in our ear that "we're missing out on something...God is holding out on us..." tells us to focus on what is forbidden rather than embracing ALL that God has provided for us and encouraged us to do. That was Eve's downfall in the Garden of Eden. She let satan convince her that God was keeping something wonderful from her and even deluded her into thinking that God wasn't true to His Word (i.e. His warning about eating from the forbidden tree) We live in a fallen world today because of it. Blessings.

The same reason Judaism disapproves of so many things: God said, "don't do them."

BTW, even religions that do not follow the Bible (e.g., Islam, Buddhism) have a long, long list of "don't's." Please do not think this is confined to Christendom.

We don't. We disapprove of murder, rape, incest, theft, and adultery. Are you saying that you actually approve of those things? Surely not!

The same reason loving parents tell their adored children no.

To protect them. To protect us.
