I am in middle school. I believe in evolution, and am doubting christianity. I am just now realizing the importance of religion and science. In social studies, we have learned various religions. Even the most ridiculous ones, yet we are not learning evolution. All the teachers say "We all have different beliefs, and we should be open to all of them" They laughed at the egyptian creation myth. What is with that? And also If I said We evolved from jelly beans and Bigfoot is god. What would you say? lol!
Thanks,
♥The girl

I do not believe that religion is appropriate in school. You are supposed to learn in school... not be fed full of other peoples beliefs. If your teacher is trying to teach you about religion instead of what is on the curiculum then i suggest going to the principle. That is not right.
If "religious" people were taught from the beginning that we evolved from jelly beans and that big foot was god then they would probably believe it. No offense people...

just because science or anything else claims the process of evolution dosen't mean that they are exactly right. Humans or anything else can't just pop up. Evolution dosen't explain the creation of a single organic creature. Their has to be a creator and that creator is God. If you then say how then did come from Well people don't say when did time began or end. Time dosen't have a beggining or end and we accept time as it is. That is how God is having no being or end. I don't see why if people can belive in time which dosen't have a begginning or an end why that can't belive in god who is also without begginning or end. Their are many religons who claim they serve the true God, but Christianity makes a claim no other religon can sustain. If you want more proof look up topics of stigmata, exrosims, miracles and you will find a array of topics which points to Chrisanity having the one true God.

Evolution is not a religion. Don't worry they'll hit you with that one in science eventually. Lots of people laughed at Noah when he built an ark as it had never rained before. Judaism was the most ridiculous of all religions when it first started. Men had never heard of worshipping a God you couldn't see much less one that didn't have a name. Many people mock or fear what they don't understand. Why did you type lol after your jelly bean theory. Because it seems absurd to us much less that Big foot is God. As we learn about the mysteries of nature and life they become less miraculous and God seems to be less and less likely.

You are a smart young lady. It's a good thing to hear
you have figured much out at such a young age. Keep
learning, keep reading. You'll have it all figured out by
the time you are a young adult.
It is the responsibility of the school to teach fact, not
fiction. If one desires superstition or other beliefs,
there are outside sources for such. Don't let anyone
force you to believe what you know is not so.
Thumbs up to you!

This is an argument people have been having for a long time... We cannot teach evolution in school unless we want to allow creationism to be taught as well. Why? I don't know.
It'll be a war for a long time before we figure it out. You believe what you want to, learn about human history and ancient religious beliefs...if anything, it's cool! =)

Learning about different religions is fine. they can't be taught in schools as fact, though.
What are you learning in science class if not evolution?
You should also remind those who laughed at the Egyptian creation myth that Christianity is a direct copy of the same myth.

I know quite a few middle school teachers and the most they ever go into evolution is variation. You won't generally get into any evolution stuff till High School.

Something has to be the truth, all these contradictory ideas can't be right. Why should we be open to the ideas that are not true? That doesn't make sense.
God is a God of order. He is a holy God with holy standards. Man is sinful. We need a remedy for our sin. Jesus is that remedy, he took the punishment we deserve for not living up to God's standards.
But you know this already. Be strong and stick to what you've been taught and believed. Spend time in your Bible to strengthen your faith.

Well, in social studies, you wouldn't learn about evolution. You have to wait until biology for that. But I think it's good that you want to learn about everything.
