Maybe when you go to bake it, yes, but NOT when you are feeding it. The bacteria need ral sugar to digest.

My mom does. Just be sure it is the granulated Splenda for baking & not the light flaky stuff, that is horrid.....
Also be sure to read the instructions for use, because you only use 1/2 as much as you would sugar.

Splenda has no nutritional value so it won't feed the yeast in the starter. Splenda is only a flavoring or seasoning to make foods taste sweet.

Don't understand the answer of "equal volumes". A cup of sugar is NOT replaced by a cup of splenda.............you'd be sick.

My answer.........DON'T USE ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS..........THEY ARE GONNA MAKE PEOPLE SICK EVENTUALLY - BESIDE THE FACT THAT THE HUMAN BODY DOESN'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO PROCESS THEM.

I'd go for something lower in sugar or replace with Honey if you can...........at least that is a NATURAL sugar!
