My main question is do I need a HDMI cable? Just so it would look better. And if so how would i set it up on my PS3 so it would play on its best?

If you hooked up the PS3 with standard def cables or forgot to tell the PS3 to output 1080 - this make sense. (or if you have el-cheepo component cables not built for HD video frequencies).

HDMI is a good way to go. Places like MonoPrice and BlueJeans have great cables for under $50.

I prefer BlueJeans, but MonoPrice is good for short runs.

the problem is the cable that comes with the unit, its the lowest of the kind. (not sure why they even put it in the box when your gonna have to buy a different one any way)

there are two options, one being getting the hdmi cable. which feeds both sound and video to your television.

and option two which if im not mistaken costs a little less.
its the rgb component cable. (red green and blue) and thats only for video. and then you will need the red and white component for sound. or if you are using a surround system and want the full quality sound use the optical out for sound and the rgb component

We are shopping for a big screen and lastnight the guy at the store said something about HAVING to have HDMI to play any of the game systems (newer ones) Im willing to bet thats your problem and that yes you need the HDMI cable.
