I ask this because I had a third grade teacher that told the class she would let her own kids die. Personally I would die to save them.

Someone else made a good point. One can say one thing, but when faced with a situation, you never know how it will play out. I know for a fact that I would die to save my four year old daughter. When she was two, her and I were walking around the neighborhood when the neighbor's dog charged us. I pressed both of us towards the ground and wrapped myself around her. The dog, a boxer/pit bull mix, mauled my back and arms. My daughter got one little scratch. Lots of people ask about my back and arms. I feel like Freddy Krueger sometimes. But I know for a fact that I would face injury or death in order to save her.

Personally, I would give my life if it meant saving that of my child's. However, I do know of people (scary enough) that would say the same thing as your teacher - but in the sense that they believe because of their religion that death is a blessing and that when someone dies, it should be celebrated because they have gone to live in a beautiful place. I still believe that if it came down to it, these same people would put their own life on the line to protect their child, but they would throw out the religion argument if it was in a discussion.

I would rather die a hundred times to save my childs life. A child is too innocent and has not the choice of choosing whether to die or not. Therefore I would definetely die to save them cause Ive been through my life already and I think the child deserves to go through his or her life too. I just hope noone in this world has to have to go through this decision

Any true loving parent would save their children or die trying!

Makes you wonder about these adults on the news that live through a house fire and have children that die. I would be right there with my children.

If given a choice I would choose to save my child's life and lose mine.. Problem is that people say one thing and do another. When faced with the situation you can only hope you will do the right thing.

choose between your childs life or yours in the matter of what?? .I would die for them..hands down, no questions asked....my babies will live before I do and have what they need to succeed in this life. My life became their lives when I saw that blue line on that pregnancy test. That teacher needs to be reported because if she would let her kids die before she did, then think of what she would do if harm came to your child while in her care!

Your teacher sounds like a fruit loop. Not only for having such odd thoughts but for voicing them. Of course, I would die for my kids, but I would also fear for how their lives would be without their mommy.

I would bet most parents feel this way. And I would also bet that the parents who might sacrifice their children, are probably not on the parenting section of yahoo!

I would rather die than lose a child. That is the worse thing that could ever happen to me. I would gladly give my life for my son. Not to mention, he is the only one that gets my ife insurance. His dad would get him if anything happened to me but we aren't together so he'd have $150k plus what interest it has earned the day he graduates college or turns 21

save the child. you'd hate your life so much, and feel so guilty if you chose the your life over your kids that you;d want to kill yourself anyway. But your child (dependng on the age) might pull through. i think its a stupid question by the way.
