Ok we have this pioneer big screen about 10 yrs old but still worked wonderful with a beautiful picture. All of the sudden the video stopped working. Well we stuck it out in the garage and about a year later plugged it up just the heck of it.
It worked perfect for about 2 weeks then the Video went out again.
Can anyone tell me the problem? and if it is worth fixing?

thanks bunches....

As a repair center, we have had alot of experience on those older pioneers. What we have found was broken solder joints on all the boards. Every single board will need to be re-soldered.

Back then Pioneer was trying to use a different kind of solder makeup for environment sakes to use on the boards instead of tradition leaded solder.

Since there are thousands of joints, it IS repairable, and it takes ALOT (about 6 hours) of time to do it so most of teh time the repairs cost about $500. Other than that, those models are very good and reliable, it will be good as new.

Hi Stace,

Have you looked at your connecting wires? It maybe your wiring.

One if the wires are messed up in the line or if the connection to tv or where it is coming from. The TV may be ok.

It is a guess. Don't know for sure.

This answer is a cheap fix, check the basic things first before expecting big bills.

yo Stacy 1.) UNPLUG THE UNIT!!!! Remove the back, carefully used compressed air(small cans @Walmart in computer asse., use the air to blow bust and dirt off the computer boards, BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH/BUMB anything!!! There is still power storage in the back, but clean everything, check the wireing etc.etc. replace the back and plug it in let it set for a day, and try to play it again, good luck!! I work on computers this way, and sometimes (lo0ngshot) it works!!
