You can use any type really. I usually do chocolate chip, just follow the recipe on the back of the chip bag, if you buy tollhouse chips. Or even an oatmeal rasion cooke. Cookie jars a a fun idea! I have also seen snowman soup, where you take a jar, and put in hot coco mix, and then attach a little bag of marshmellows on the side, or you can mix em in if you'd like.

You can bake your own cookies, like gingerbread or sugar cookies that you decorate yourself. For the sugar cookies, I would roll the dough out and use a christmas tree cookie cutter, or a snow man, and bake. Use some frosting and sprinkles to decorate them. With the gingerbread, I would roll it out and cut out little people shapes. You can use icing to create outfits for them all, and small candies for buttons, eyes, things like that. When you have the cookies, go to a crafts store, like Hobby Lobby or Michael's. There, they will have jars you can put the cookies in. You can also go to Wal Mart or Target, but they might not have them. Then get some pretty paper, colorful markers, stamps, stickers, whatever you want to use to decorate the jar. Be sure to get some colorful ribbon too. Take the paper, cut it in half longways, then decorate. Tape it to the container. Be sure that the lid is on tight, and decorate the lid with a ribbon. I have done this in the past and people love it. And they can keep the jar and use it for other things too. :) Hope I helped a bit
