It would be cheesy of us. Should we back the Kurds and weigh our chances?

Absolutely! Just like it would be cheesy for the Kurds to invade Turkey.

Ahem.....Turkey is not some two-bit nation or third world power. Turkey has a large and very good military and Greece isn't going to stop it and America would have its hands full saying jack sh-t about it.

Hopefully Turkey will exercise restraint but really this is just another facet of the coming civil war in Iraq. You can see the various sides starting to stockpile and square off., especially now that there is a breather from the outside terrorist influences.

It could blow up either in the south between Sunnis and Shiites, or with the Kurds. Either one will strike a match.

Iran all the way here to answer this. Greece would trip Turkey and get in their Whey if they tried to invade the Kurds in Iraq.
