I have been on a dentist merry go round the past three years because my dentist does not do root canals. And three teeth went bad....well. Now one of those teeth hurts AGAIN. And she wants to put a cap over the tooth. For *only* $800. That's what I paid for the canal!!! Everybody I know says "PULL IT!" rather than going through it all that expense again. She gave me a payment program to sign up for, but that cuts rather deeply into a skinny paycheck. *sigh* The tooth is an upper molar, in the back. What would you do? Pull it or struggle with the payment program?

If you pull the tooth, the surrounding teeth will shift causing other problems. You should save this tooth if possible. It may not show but it does have a function.

If you pull the tooth or extract it will cause more problems. Costing more money in the long run. Teeth move and shift the tooth below will move up to meet the gum where the tooth has been extracted and that will cause collapsing you really need to replace it so this won't happen. The tooth after the rct is now brittle because the rct removes all the blood supply and nerve which can fracture the tooth and the 800.00 you have already paid will be in the extraction cup. So either way it cost money to keep or loose what God gave you.

Pull the tooth and get an implant the cost is the same out of pocket and a root canal is only a temporary fix. This is my opinion of course, Think about it you will pay 800 dollars for a root canal, insurance picks up like 80percent *if it is traditional* Then you have to crown it.....that is like 900 or more depending on the cost at your office, insurance will pay like 50percent. So , you may as well pay the 1000 for an implant and it will be like you never lost the tooth, and it lasts for ever.....Titanium doesn't decay.......Just rattling on sorry ,, hope this was slightly helpful,,,,it is your decision.
