It means that they like wearing rings. It's nothing deep, just simply that they like in on that finger. Most women will avoid wearing a ring on their left ring finger so they won't be mistaken for engaged or married if they're not...but other than that it's just a preference.

Some cultures/countries (like Germany) traditionally wear wedding rings on the RIGHT hand (engagement ring on the left, wedding ring on the right... traditionally... but it's a personal decision still, so a lot of people will also wear the wedding ring on the left hand!)--but they still wear it on the RING finger. I guess, since that's true, there might be some cultures that have other traditions? You'd really just need to ask HER to know for sure....

Mostly, it's that the ring they bought is too big for their ring finger!
Also, some women are hesitant to wear any ring on their left hand ring finger because of the implication that it has meaning (promise ring, engagement ring, wedding ring, anniversary band.)

It probably means that the ring is too large to safely stay on her ring finger.

The ring fits her middle finger better than the others.....she like to wear rings on her middle finger...
I inherited a ring and it was too big for my ring finger and I didn't want to resize it.

It means they like the ring, and they want to wear it, but not on their ring finger, which indicates that they are "taken" ...
