i got pulled over last week for doing 38 in a 35 but i see cops riding down the road doing well over 80 in a 35 during heavy traddic but no one is around to police the police... cops are given the right to speed in emergency situations but i see them racing their cruisers down the road at night when they think no one is looking i sit on my front porch at night and sometimes i see the same 2 cops racing down the same part of the road more than once in the same night (its obvious there racing, i sit on my porch everynight) and its always at the same time 3:51 AM on the dot, they coming flying down the highway doing no less that 120mph and i know there is no emergency that happens every night without fail exactly at 3:51am every flippin day.... i honestly don't car how fast they drive i just don't understand how they can give me tickets for drivng 3 MPH over the limit but they can come down the same patch of road in front of my house every (week) night without fail doing well over 100...

well im retired. so no i don't work. and i know they are doing in excess on 120mph+ because I am an experienced drag/race car builder.... I have probably seen over 100k cars go down the drag strip doing 120mph or more and i have a good judge of speed. I highly doubt theres a call at the exact same time every night, i suspect the guys are trying to have a little fun in their cruisers. which i see nothing wrong with as long as I would be allowed to take my race car fast down the road too.

some of you are saying that its impossible to be a good judge of speed if a car going 35mph takes 7 seconds to get from one power line pole to the next i would have to say any police car that can cover that same area (1 power line pole to the next) in less than 2 seconds id say he has to be doing well over a hundred I live 13 miles away from a drag strip that i go to every weekend and i can honestlly say that im a good judge of speed. And the reason they have no problem going 85 in heavy traffic is because the road has 2 lanes for driving and a pull over lane and the police use the pull over lane during the day.... i just don't think its safe and if i post a news story about some kid getting smacked by a cop and it ends up killing him don't say i didn't tell ya so.

Because they can. The truth is that most Police have no moral authority to issue speeding citations. For the most part it is really all about generating revenue.
Here in Tulsa, the cops speed up Highway 75 each morning to the Police Academy. Can't be late for class!!
I certainly don't want to imply that speed enforcement isn't important. But having driven frequently in Germany and Italy...let's just say we are very silly in this country with regard to speeding tickets.

I've answered this before and I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are exaggerating quite a bit. Every night exactly at 3:51 AM they go by at 120 MPH. First why are you up EVERY night at 3:51 AM second how do you know they're going 120 MPH?
Ok now in the favor of the police I'm going to say this. Just because they are not using their lights and sirens does NOT mean they are not going to an emergency. If it is unnecessary due to road conditions to use lights and sirens police won't use them. There are different categories of calls, routine, Urgent and emergency. Emergency calls are an absolute threat to life or property. Urgent are a possible threat to life or property and routine are cold calls.
A question for you, if your family were being held at gun point wouldn't you want the police going to help them as fast as posisble? Now drive the speed limit, don't be an idiot, turn your music down and be cordial and respectful when a police officer pulls you over and maybe you won't get a ticket.

I really found "riding down the road doing well over 80 in a 35 during heavy traddic" amusing. I couldn't do 45 mph on a heavy trafficked road if I wanted to, the traffic is well ....... too heavy.
As far as police given the right to speed in emergency situations. One, it's not a right it's the authority to exceed the speed limit. Two, check the states laws. Some states an officer only need be in an authorized emergency vehicle on duty to exceed the speed limits even when not responding to an emergency. Other states require emergency situations. So educate your self and stop exaggerating.

So tell me, how is it possible to travel 45 miles over the speed limit in heavy traffic? Wouldn't the traffic get in the way?
How do you know the speed they are doing? You seem very specific.
Also, I doubt you got a ticket for only going 3 miles over the speed limit.
What are you doing sitting on your porch at 3:15 every morning? Do you sleep?

The reason is: Pigs play dirty, I keep saying it all along first they are power hungry to begin with second ther is no other word other than hypocrit to best describe these little pigs racing down your block. I wish you good luck with that speeding tickect, hopefully you can take in evidence of this to the local news center not the police station because they would just cover it up

Chances are they are just practicing getting to a call in a hurry, on the outside chance you might need emergency response someday, and they don't want to have to give you answers as to why they took so long to respond.
Now, I know we on the internet cannot give you the exact reason you're looking for, I suggest you take a trip to the police station and ask them.

Where did you get your speed calibrated eyes at? That would be so great to have. I would quit work and go play baseball. Anyway, who is awake at 0351 hours? What shift do you work? Do you even work?
