you might enjoy the Marine Corps MCMEP program. It's a martial arts program that is started with a tan belt in boot camp and you can take your training all the way up to black belt during your service. They combined many forms of martial arts to come up with the program. If you want to use your skills the most then try the Marines. HOORAHH
Don't let these guys tell you that it's a nightmare and get all negative. If you have the right heart you will love getting paid to do a job that is fun and your choice, thats the best part when you join-you can pick what you do. name one civilian job that when they hire you say, "what job here would you most like to do? just pick one." Not one. stay motivated.

When OIF broke out I volunteered.
I run 2-3 miles 3 times a week, Karate 3 days a week and Kali 2, I swim 2-3 miles a day, weights 3 days a week, rifle range a couple of times a month. I even have prior service. The problem was with my age... Something about coming out of retirement at 65... I retired from the Navy 22 years ago. ;-)
Your agility, your self control, and your strength will help a lot, but in the field, it will be your self control and strength of character that will probably help you the most.
People sweat boot camp. Compared to some training the military provides, boot camp is a breeze. Millions have gone through it before you. If you make it in, you can almost bet you're going to make it through.... unless you do something incredibly dumb.
Just do your best. You should be ok.

These days joining the army is a death wish. I would reconsider if I were you. I know you aren't asking but man, you said you are considering? Think twice about it, to day there is nothing going on about "King and Country" it's all economics of a select few that you are going to be fighting for.
Three things are going to happen, you will live through the nightmare and come home in one piece, you will live through the nightmare and come home without a few pieces, or you will die a stranger in a strange land. All for the select few who benefit economically.

Reality check...your hand-to-hand skills will scarcely be used in the field. War is not a Van Damme movie.
Bragging about your 'skills' in boot camp will find you on the @$$ end of a example during self defense instruction.
Check the ego at the MEPS station and join for the right reasons.

A martial arts expert has advantage in joining the Army because he is physically fit for the regimented military life.

Don't listen to Gugliamo that Fag was in the navy, for 25 years might I ad. He was probably to scared to make it out in the civilian world, so that's why he stayed in. I wish Gugliamo was in when I was in the Army, I would have made him look so stupid, in front of the other soldiers.

it will help a lot but for basic you will be fighting on your knees. If you can get the combat class at your unit you will fight standing up and it will help you with some of the moves.
