Fruit or Apples.
All apples are fruit.
Some fruit are apples.
Christianity or Catholic.
All Catholics are Christians.
Some Christians are Catholics.
"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

Catholics are supposed to be Christians too! They were the first world wide church...unfortunately, they were also the first Christian group to kill other Christians for not agreeing with their pagan ways. The Church of Rome, when given civil authority by Constantine, and other Roman leaders, became a dangerous thing. That is why the US should never allow church and state to unite. Freedom of Religion is best--not freedom from religion.
They were not the first church started by Jesus Christ. They were started more than 300 years after Christ.

Christianity, in the true sense, is to have a personal relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus the Messiah. So, when ask any question concerning the Christian Faith, you have to keep in mind that the majority of professing Christians have made a Jesus to fit their needs. They have created a god in their own image so to speak. That leaves it up to you, or someone you trust, to find the answer to your particular question.
I wish all Christians would study the Bible diligently, in fervent prayer, so that they would not only have a true knowledge of God's written word, but that they would be ready to answer any question ask of them with the confidence that comes from having the wisdom of God's Holy Scriptures.
God be with you,
William, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ
