Long story short, there has been this male gray cat that has been hanging around my yard. He trusts me a lot. He takes food from my hand, comes to me when called and rubs against my leg. Now he is a stray. The other day me and my mom caught him in a crate so that we can get him vaccianated and neuteured. Now since we have released him he has not come back. Im afraid that he might not trust me again since we tricked him into getting in the crate...what do you think?...do you think he will come back...we do feed him

Congratulations!!, by trapping him, and getting his shots and neutered, is one of the best things that you could have done for him, and I know from experience its a very trying and nerve racking ordeal to perform, especially on a stray that you have grown attached too. I too asked almost the same question after I performed a TNR on one of the strays I feed. I know i did the right thing, but i was hurt when the cat ran off I didn't see her for a day or two.
However, don't lose faith, the cat came back after the second day, and has been coming by every night since (8 months) for something to eat. I will be honest with you, he will probably be a little skid-dish at first with, so don't be too alarmed, but he will regain the trust with you over time.
You really should be rewarding yourself on at such a big accomplishment (Trap Neuter Return) at 15, that was the most unselfish, kindest thing you could have done for the stray, and be ready with a fresh can of cat food, because I'm sure he will be back (performed 4 TRN,) all 4 which still come by every night

he will come back around, right now he feels you just hurt him and that's it, i have a cat the same way, and he still doesn't come in just hangs out in the back like always. He left me for a couple of days, but he knows who really loves and takes care of him. Maybe you should try to find him a home once he does come back or take care of him like an outdoor cat, make him a place to stay and leave him some food and water.
But that was really great of you to take him to be fixed and everything, I will say THANK YOU from him.

Stray cats and domicile cats are completely distinctive. Stray cats have not got an proprietor so as that they don't comprehend greater useful. they are able to content textile rabies from animals. you are not getting effected from a house cat's hair if it is going on your mouth. i've got executed that lots. not something got here approximately. merely make advantageous the cat would not have rabies, or has a ailment.

You did a VERY GOOD thing by having him neutered and given his shots! Thank you! He is probably a little scared right now...keep food out and maybe see if you can find him a good home.....or fix up a spot for him in a warm place. Even indoor kitties will shy away from you on occasion after a trauma like that...so be patient.

First of, good for you for getting him vaccinated and neutered - I wish there were more people like you! Secondly, he's probably just a bit spooked about going to the vet but he'll get over it and come back I'm sure. He obviously likes you :)

Hard to tell cats are very sensitive and can have their feelings hurt. We just have to wait and see. Has he come back for food? If he does, talk sweet talk and lie down to show him he's number one.

Keep feeding him, the fright will go away and he'll go back to how he was. I've live trapped our local ones for spaying and neutering and they all adjusted once they were back.
