Advice on this from various parenting websites say to limit the child's milk consumption to 3-4 cups a day. There is a lot of fat and calories in whole milk. The child needs them, but not as the sole source of nutrition. So as long as he isn't drinking more than that, he should be fine! Try to keep him eating foods like fruits and vegetables, which are high in water content so he isn't as thirsty.

Many moms will want to swap with you. Milk is the best thing for a growing child. During your pregnancy you ought to drink 1-1,5 l milk yourself.
Sure water would be nice too, is he havin a weight problem ? Then you should use skim milk.
Milk is great when u r in training, its great when u grow. Makes ur bones strong, doesn't spoil ur teeth, even helps them be strong. He will get to the sweet stuff, don't worry !!

All children under the age of 2 should be drinking a minimum of 16 ozer per day of undiluted whole milk. You need to re-evaluate his diet and stop diluting his milk. You are taking away necessary nutrients and fat for his little body to grow and develop properly. Make sure he gets plenty of fruits and veggies throughout the day. Fruit juice actually helps loosen stools, as do raisins, prune juice, etc. If after changing his diet, he is still having problems, you should call your pediatrician.

From a nutritional standpoint juice has very little to offer, vitamin C and usually that is about it. It is recommended that a child not even drink juice until after their first birthday and then the amount should not exceed 4-6oz daily. Unless of course you are giving them prune juice to counter constipation.

Offering small amounts of water in a cup got my daughter used to drinking out of a normal plastic tumbler as well as getting her used to drinking fluids other than milk. I wouldn't really worry about it but try offering small amounts of other drinks to get him started.

if he is weaned, he should drink something else, preferably water. offer it when he is eating, start him of in a bottle, it may help. If her is drinking milk all the time, he won't have enough of an appetite to eat solids, which will mean he is not getting a substantially balanced diet

i wouldnt worry about it. my son was like 18 months before our persistance of trying to get him to drink stuff other than milk paid of. anyway he's reall healthy and weighs above average (but he was born above average baby). i know alot of people whos kids only drink milk until there like 3 or 4 and they seem fine. you baby is getting fluid, and milk has water in it naturally and if you are feeding him solids there is water in that and even more if you feed him the jars. this is what my health visito told me when i was worried about my sons lack of water intake.

my ped. told me to make sure my daughter gets about 16 oz of milk a day, 4 oz of juice and in between water. She said that too much calcium is also bad for the body.

Yea its fine, he will drink other things in time. Just keep on offering water to him as well. He will start drinking it when he's ready, they always do, especially if he sees you drinking water all the time, he will want some. He's only 1 bless.

not all the time he should be drinking some water.

what i did with my nephew who lives with us is i took his bottle and added 6 oz 2% milk and added 2 - 4 oz. of water to that.

after about a week add more water to it. My nephew is 1 also.
