Scriptures were not detailed enough to answer your specific questions with authority, but I can give you some general concepts.
First of all, I don't think we have arrived at the point in time when the final events are about to take place. There are scriptures that indicate that God did not even tell Jesus when the end would be, so why would He tell any of us? He just tells us to watch for signs. I have yet to see such signs.
We can see shadows of what may come in today's world, however. You will notice that the practice of Christianity is being persecuted. Review recent news and see how many times people are removing "God" from public activities. No more prayer in schools, the pledge of alligence has to remove the word "God", we can no longer pray in public without "offending" someone, things like that.
Humans have wars all the time. I don't know that it has reached "biblical proportions" yet, however I do worry when I hear of unrest in Israel. That is, if you will recall, the promised land.
Natural disasters happen all the time, too. I don't think those have reached "biblical proportions" either. The earth has warmed and cooled before, with catastrophic results for some life forms (No more wooly mammoths), Also, there was a natural disaster of some sort that wiped out the dinosaurs, but nothing visible in the near future that would wipe out a fourth of the world's human population. That is one of the early things that will come to be in the early part of the second coming.
Even here on the answers site, people who claim Christian values are roundly ridiculed. All of that amounts to persecution, but it is "light" persecution right now. Most of us do not feel threatened, but merely annoyed.
It could get worse. There are some of the more radical Muslims who have announced a holy war against Christians. There are parts of the world where carrying a Bible can get you killed, or at least thrown into jail.
Death to a Christian is when God calls us home to be with him. The manner of death of our body is unimportant. Will it be painful? Maybe for some. Would children die? Maybe some.
Should you be scared? No, not really. God gave us a spirit of boldness. He gives us the Holy Spirit to comfort us. He gave us Jesus to wipe away our sins, so we will be welcome in the sight of God. We know that if we stick with God, He sticks with us.
The second coming is when Jesus comes back for His people. Now THAT, I imagine, will be a time of great joy for you and I. For those that chose to believe some other thing, not so good.
So, keep on loving God, and keep on praying to Jesus. Never take your mind off of what God has asked you to do, and you will be fine. Some day your body will cease to function, but you will remain alive, with Him.

Don't be scared, if you belong to God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit, you should be excited.
No it does not mean that Christians will die if they believe in Jesus, it is just the opposite, you will live but in peace, beauty, tranquility.
If you are not a believer listen: Jesus is about to step out on a cloud in the Eastern Sky and a Trumpet will sound, only those who believe will hear this, and we will rapture up with Jesus, all the dead in Christ will rise first and we will meet Jesus in the air. Matthew: 24 & Matthew: 25 : 31-46.
Then: Russia & Iran along with a few Muslim Nations will attack Israel, then joined by Egypt, U.S. all Western Nations
and 200 million men from China will March across the Euphrates River, you wont to die but you will not be able too.
The earth will burn. Satan and all his people will be thrown into a lake of Fire and will burn for eternity.
There are so many other things to happen, you need to study the following Books.

End Times...what a massive topic. I guess I will start by explaining this period, before Christ returns there will be a seven year period (called the tribulation) where a person called the Anti Christ will rule over the world (this may or may not include Israel) who will claim to be the messiah and will order people to bow to him if people dont it is believe they will suffer and be persecuted and put to death. Also there is a mark the anti christ will force people to get on their foreheads or right hand/arm which allows people to buy or sell things and again if you dont have this mark then you again may be persecuted and put to death. As Christians getting the 'mark of the beast' or bowing down to the ant christ goes against many teachings in the bible and therefore would be basically denying God so Christians therefore will be persecuted and put to death.
However there is this other thing called the rapture which is when jesus takes the righteous to heaven. Some christians especially many american evangelicals believe in a pre tribulation rapture so they dont believe many christians will suffer just those who have been left behind and convert. However there is little biblical evidence to back up this claim and raises questions about jesus returning for his people then returning again for everyone else, aswell as already having judged people to take them to heaven before all the rest of the people so I personally believe in a post tribulation rapture which is more biblical and also i would rather prepare people to brace themselves for these struggles and be wrong then end up in the middle of a tribulation having told christians not to worry because they would be in heaven at that point.
The second coming is at the end of this tribulation, it will be annouced by a trumpet which all the world will hear and all the world will see Jesus returning on a cloud to judge the world and restore it to what it once was.
We as christians are ment to love Jesus enough to be willing to die for him as Paul says to live is Christ but to die is gain. It may be a scary thing but trust your life in Gods hands, this does not mean that you wont be put through bad things or not be put through persecution or death it just means that you will end up on the winning side!

Before the second coming there will be an Anti-Christ who will come some time after the rapture. This man (most theologists say it will be a man of English decent) will be the most charismatic man ever to grace the government. With most people/governments in chaos he will be the once rectitude they have. He will promise great things to come and call himself the savior of the chosen people!
Sadly enough, with the lack of actual Christians left on Earth nobody will see this man for who he really is and will let him control, he will soon become the ruler of the world, more of a Communist government, he will mark each person with his number 666. It says in the bible that, "No man will be able to buy or sell without his number..."
After seven years of this horrible war and the new holocaust of the Jewish people Jesus will come again and He and this Anti-Christ will face off in a battle the like of which you could never imagine! The ultimate battle of good vs evil! black vs white! Yin vs Yang! He will then take his children to a new Earth for "...the old earth had passed away." There is really nothing to worry about, so long as you believe in Christ you will not have to live through the most horrible tyranny to grace the Earth.

When Jesus returns, He will take the faithful Christians. Those who have stood firm in their faith and continued to follow His words. But there will be those who say they are Christians, who will not be truly faithful. They and all the people left, will have a second chance to follow His word and find salvation. As far as the children are concerned, I believe that they will all be taken as well, because they are under the age of accountability and have not really had the chance to make up their own minds yet. The people who are left behind, will find it harder to be a Christian, because they will be killed for their faith and belief in God. But if they stand firm, they will still be able to make it to Heaven. That is a short version of my opinion of the second coming.

Jesus never promised that Christians would be spared suffering. It is in suffering that we are united with Christ in his death on the Cross, we must die with Him to be raised (from the dead) with Him.
I have no idea who will kill anybody or who will die. You're taking this way out of proportion. Everybody will die someday. Everybody. And personally, I would be glad if my death was for Christ, and not just an ordinary 'die in my sleep' kind of death.

I’m adding on to NJ response.….
Here is where you will find the church being pulled up and out…: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
This is the Holy Spirit…the comforter that the Lord left with us…
If the Holy Spirit is with us then we must be removed with the Holy Spirit…
2 Thessalonians 2 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:
only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Jesus calls to the Bride ….the church
1 Thessalonians 4 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
(In this event 1 Thessalonians 4 the Lord calls us to him in the air, in a cloud, he is not earthbound, Also, that we will be with him for ever more, this event is for the dedicated “Christian.” Look carefully where he is…in the HEAVENS…where are we…EARTH…this is important to note. The Lord descends with a shout, a shout dedicated Christians will be able to hear… He is only calling those who he knows. This is not a silent event… Christians will hear him loud and clear, he needs no “power” with him, he’s not taking us by force, he’s taking us by love. When he comes after the tribulations he comes with “power and glory” and all will see him… But in the event - described in 1 Thessalonians 4 he is gathering his “bride” and the door is shut for that ceremony.)
If you are a dedicated Christian for Jesus….no worries…but God have mercy on those left here when Satan takes his place…the Bible states they will have to die to live…these are the tribulation saints. The rest are the "children of disobiedanceand" God will pour his wrath out on them. They will not make it to the Kingdom.
God bless you,
Faith

each physique gets a honest probability, and each physique gets baptized. those that have not been baptized, the two ineffective and alive, while Jesus returns would have their baptism executed throughout the Millennium. And be careful approximately listening to those which at the instant are not Mormons attempting to tell you what we've faith. They fairly much constantly go incorrect, and could inform you all styles of strange stuff that we've not got faith.
