A contest is being held to find the lightest, smallest volume, simplest, and least expensive package to contain 1 gallon of water when it lands on a concrete sidewalk after being dropped off the roof of building? ( a drop of about 125 feet).
a. Describe the approach that you would follow to package the water. The water must be contained throughout the process and there must be a high probability that the package will not break when it lands on the concrete.

Your answer's highly appreciated

Put the water in a one gallon milk jug and then tie a parachute to the handle. Your parachute needs to be big enough to slow the 8 pound weight for a gentle landing.

An alternative would be to freeze the water in a large water-balloon. The sphere shape would be the smallest possible container. Add the parachute to keep it from smashing into tiny pieces on the sidewalk.

The smallest volume will be a sphere. The trick is to find a water balloon that is strong enough that it does not break when it hits. You might be able to find really good surgical tubing or latex rubber sheets that would be strong enough not to break when it hits the concrete. You could also design a parachute to slow down the water balloon. If depends on how they are going to define the volume. If you have a pretty strong balloon and relatively small parachute, you may be able to slow it down enough that it will survive.

good luck

How important is it for the water container not to break?

I would get a bunch of helium balloons from the party store and tie them to a water jug so that it floats down ever so softly.

You for sure would have the "lightest" package!

Boil the water, use the steam to fill a balloon, then let the balloon go. As the steam condenses, the balloon will gently fall to the ground.

This tank is to small for community tank. I would only put a betta and some shrimp in it. If you want more fish then that then invest in a larger tank
