I keep two versions of the Bible. The one I refer to the most is the Authorised Version (called the KJV in the US) and the other is the Jerusalem Bible because it comes with good, scholarly notes if I want to refer to them and it is an accurate translation without the errors that can bedevil the Authorised Version.

Edit: For the record, I should point out that I am an atheist, but I do hope the Christians posting on this answer will realise that, yes, even atheists read the Bible.

Technically, the bible is Catholic. The Roman Catholic Church were the division of the church responsible for compiling the gospels as you know them today. Until the Protestant Reformation the 'Catholic' Bible was the only edition since, obviously, there was no other major denomination till then. However, I believe there is a variation known as the Catholic Bible-RSV (Revised Standard Edition,) which most consider to be the version to use.

I have King James, New King James, and Life Application Bible (New Living Bible) translations at home. I usually use my King James at church because this is what the pastor uses and prefers, but sometimes if I get really bogged down with all the "Thees" and "Thous" I will compare it to one of the others to make sure I understand it.

I also like to use the Biblegateway.com site because I can look up a passage or topic in multiple translations at the same time and compare it.

I have two kinds. The one I carry around and to church is the New World Version, I think. And the one I sometimes use at night is New International Version.

I used to have a Bible and a Mormon book a few years ago, which I most regrettably don't have anymore. They were the KJV Bible & the Book of Mormon. I wish i still had both of them.

I don't go to church at the present time, but I am looking into about going to a Quaker service and/or Unitarian Universalist service fairly soon.

All I have to do now is look and see where they might be in my area (northside of Chicago).
