If so, please reference the book, chapter, and verse. My fiance says he doesn't want to be cremated when he dies because he heard it was wrong from somewhere. I hadn't heard it, but there's so much info, who knows. Please only answer if it's helpful in answering my question.

There are many passages in Leviticus and elsewhere about cremation in a sacrifical way, "not letting your children pass through the fire", but it was seen as wrong because other religions of the time practiced it. It was sacrifical burning to another god or gods. If your fiancee' doesn't want to be cremated because he simply doesn't want to that's fine, but there's no where in the Bible that says cremation as we have come to understand it today in the West is wrong.

Catholic Church teaching is that cremation is wrong because it symbolizes a lack of faith in the future resurrection of believers. But, if one is cremated AND the urn containing the ashes is buried it's ok. (It's the scattering that's the problem) Also, displaying an urn on the mantle or wherever is considered a huge no no because using someone's remains in a what could be considered a decorative way is wrong. (So having a loved one's ashes pressed into a jewel for a piece of jewelry is also wrong)

I would say that I know the Bible, so as far as I know there is nothing in the word of God that says cremation is taboo.

I believe some of the older generation may believe this.

I don't think there is an allusion to it in the bible. It is just a way of disposing of the body. The soul goes on forever. When we are ressurected, we will have new, glorified bodies. No matter where our remains have been scattered, God can bring them together from all over the universe if need be.

In the Old testament (Genesis 22) God tested Abraham to offer his son as a "burnt offering".
If it was a bad thing, or pagan, or not allowed God would not have told Abraham to do it.
Abraham followed God's wishes and prepared his son Issac for the "burnt offering" only to
be stopped by God as Abraham was going to do it.

Scripture does not teach this, but some religions do; including Judaism.

Nothing, the ban was done because the church saw non christians doing it and decided it was evil.

I think it has to do with being raised from the dead when Jesus comes. If you don't have a "body" (skeleton) I guess it doesn't work.
