Now that winter is approaching I am dreadin it, I walk to and from work and notice that when I get to work, my skin is really dry.
I cleanse and moisturise everyday and night and I use palmers cocoa butter on my face.
Is that normal for the skin to be like that at this time of year?

My skin dries out when I have been outside, is it the cold that is drying it out?

Yes me too. I use Aqueous cream instead of shower gel all winter, as recomended by my GP. Its cheap and you get a huge container which will last all winter. The cream doesn't lather and you may like to use a perfumed bodyspray as it is unperfumed. Use a sponge or similar to wash with. Yes its normal. It all to do with extra heating in the winter. It may be a good plan to put a few humidifers around your home too. Let us know how you get on. x

Hi,
I get this every winter as well. It's due to central heating but also the wind and cold, so it is normal. I cleanse once a day at night with a cream cleanser. Other than that, I use warm water to wash my face with (no soap or harsh liquid face cleansers). You're doing the right thing with the moisturiser. You could try a heavier night cream. I exfoliate just once a week. I also take Evening Primrose capsules during the winter. These seem to help.

Many people suffer from dry skin during the winter months. I use Oil of Olay Complete, which is a moisturing cream for the face & they make it for dry, oily, sensitive, & normal skin. I use it right after cleansing my face with the Oil of Olay moisturizing facial wash. The plastic bottle comes in a box & I get a good price for it at Wal*Mart in the skin cream section. Put it on before bedtime, so it can moisturize your face overnight. I apply it to my face in the morning before applying my makeup & it makes my face feel good. A little bit goes a long way. :)

Yes, it is normal, keep doing what you are doing, follow the good advice from the person above and also, don't forget to drink plenty of water!
You can do as much as you like on the outside but it will only do so much, you need to be well hydrated on the inside too.
Yes, it could be the cold drying out your skin, especially if it's windy too.

Yes. Though some people have dryer skin than others.
Between dry heat and people not drinking as much water as they should- and I'm guilty of the latter too- dry skin can be a huge problem in winter.

Skin is often worse during the winter when environmental humidity is low.
Try to use cream moisturizers which are usually white and disappear when rubbed into the skin without leaving a greasy feel.
Avoid lotion moisturizer which are suspensions of oily chemicals in alcohol and water. Because of their alcohol content, they can be somewhat drying when used repeatedly compared to ointments and creams.

If you're walking in harsh weather, it will dry out your skin. I reccomend Jergens face cream, applied daily to the skin right after you dry off from a shower. I used to have dry skin, but after I started doing this, my skin is fine. good luck! =)

I think its due to the central heating being on. Take Evening Primrose Oil and leave a bowl of water in your bedroom at night. It really works.
