why do they still call them stock cars?

they are rear wheel drive not front wheel drive, v8 not v6 and running hillbilly carburation not fuel injection

i mean why are they stuck in the past when are they going to join us in the technology age

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!!! they take 4 door cars,with a V-6, front wheel drive,,,widen the body,,,make them into V-8's with 2 doors,,if it wasn't for all the decals telling us what kind of car they we're,,,we would not be able to tell one brand of car from the others,,yes I agree they need to drop the "stock" out of the term stock car racing,,have been a race fan for over 40 years,it use to be race on sunday buy on monday,could go to the dealer and buy a car that "looked" like the car raced on Sunday,I have yet to see a 2 door Taurus,Charger,Impala,Fusion,at my dealer,any of these cars with rear drive and a big V-8

Everyone knows what "stock car" means and it isn't a street car.

I guess it depends on what you call technology. The hillbilly carburetor makes 850 horse power. The specs for nascar engines were basically frozen back in the late 70s to contain costs. Horsepower has risen from 450 to 850 with the same carburetor and engine size. That is technology

A Stock Car is exactly what they race in Nascar not a passenger car. Passenger cars have fuel injection.

Because changing the series name will confuse people. BTW the Charger is RWD and comes with a V8. The Monte and Impala both come with V8s.
