The first 2 weeks are the toughest ones you will face. It usually takes 4 - 6 weeks to finally feel the effects. If by any means it makes you ill during the first 2 weeks then you need to see about possibly changing meds or the amount of it.
I'm currently taking Haldol and it helped me more to take it as an injection rather than as pill form.

Good luck!

You're not giving it long enough, it takes 4-6 weeks. Your MD might increase your dose as 75mg is relatively low, but is the std way of starting anti-depressants so you won't have side effects. If that doesn't help your MD might give you a cocktail of meds ex: adding Wellbutrin, or changing the medication altogether.

Give it & yourself enough time. Try not to be discouraged. If you have a good working relationship with your psychiatrist, you'll hit on something that works.

Good Luck.

I have been on them all including the one you are on. It takes more time for them to really be affective. However I was on 300 mg per day. Now I take something different. What ever you do don't quit taking effexor cold turkey. I had a bad experience from doing that. Make sure your doctor knows what you are doing.

Yes, I thought the same thing, it took about a month or so, then I notice, as well as others a big difference, in the way I act, and react to things. I am currently taking Celexia, 40mg. It all depends, on the pill, and the person, sometimes the Doctor may try you on another pill, if that don't work for you. Yes, you have to give it some time.

Yes, I actually take the same antidepressant. Except I take
300 mg in the am. Everyone is different in how much is needed. I thought it would never help. I was relieved when it
finally did help. I understand it sometimes can take up to 6 weeks for an antipressant to work. Hang in there.

i used to take zoloft 100mg , antidepressants work to fix a chemical problem so if thats what you have it should patch everything up . say you go through a break up or something upsetting anti d's wont help you with that . it should work soon give it a couple more weeks if it doesnt click try a different family of antidepressants.
