Vista does not come with any software to handle PowerPoint. HP probably gave you a free trial version of Microsoft Office (that does display PowerPoint) that has now expired. Hence it asks for a product key. You only have a Vista key not an Office key

Microsoft does have a free viewer to read PowerPoint:

Good luck.

Powerpoint is part of Office and is separate from the Vista operating system and would have a separate product key.

- If it is a trial version of Office (many OEMs install trial versions) and the trial period has expired, that may be why you are getting the error message.
- If you have the full version of Office, check your documentation from HP to see if the key is indicated anywhere. If not, contact HP or the retailer.
- If you do not have the full version of Office installed, you can download the Powerpoint Viewer free of charge at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=048dc840-14e1-467d-8dca-19d2a8fd7485&displaylang=en

Re: the sticker on the bottom of the computer - isn't this the serial number of the computer?

Product keys are usually on a sticker on the protective plastic case of the CD of the software.

You could try downloading the Powerpoint Viewer here:
