Fear that a US attack on Iran could lead the Islamic Republic to stop its oil exports or block key shipping channels for oil tankers in the Straits of Hormuz is one of the factors that has driven oil prices to record highs in recent years.
He predicted however that hostilities would not break out.
"My prediction is that no war will break in the region," he said. "Our assessment is that this region will not witness a war. There is no cause for concern ... America and its allies are incapable of launching a strike against us."

Both Chavez and his self-proclaimed political "brother", Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, are attending an OPEC summit in Riyadh, where Chavez warned oil could hit 200 dollars a barrel if the United States attacked Iran.
Chavez's visit would be his fourth to Iran since Ahmadinejad took office in 2005. He last visited Iran as recently as July, laying the foundations alongside Ahmadinejad for a joint petrochemical plant.
Despite their cultural differences, Iran and Venezuela have in the last years forged increasingly strong ties based on their shared dislike of the United States.

A high-level diplomatic source in Tehran tells Asia Times Online that essentially Putin and the Supreme Leader have agreed on a plan to nullify the George W Bush administration's relentless drive towards launching a preemptive attack, perhaps a tactical nuclear strike, against Iran. An American attack on Iran will be viewed by Moscow as an attack on Russia.

While oil may deter any rash military action on western countries, ultimately it will not stop military intervention. They also overlook Israel. Israel has proven time and again it could not care less about oil in the Middle East. Any country which threatens it, Israel goes to war with. It probably won't be America launching a preemptive attack, but Israel. And right now Iran is literally threatening Israel.
If you have any doubt about that, read about Operation Orchard, on September 6, 2007, when the Israeli Air Force bombed Syria's "facility capable of making unconventional weapons" in Deir ez-Zor. Iran has the credibility of Baghdad Bob.

The leadership of Iran and Venezuela are taking advantage of the fact that the US has no intention of attacking Iran to claim that we cannot.
The fact of the matter is that the only oil exports the Iranians can block is their own.
The Iranians do not have the capability to effectively block the straits of Hormuz.
If the Iranians were so confident then they would not be doing everything they can to avoid a confrontation with US military forces.

We could attack him the military has fuel reserves for just encase that happens and then the US will go on gas rations, the people will only get so much gas a week. They did this during WWI and WWII.
It is not likely to happen anytime soon because the military does not have the man power to fight a third war right know. If we leave Iraq or Afghanistan it is more likely that we will attack them.

feels like Obama is speaking approximately doing air strikes in the mountains of Pakistan alongside the Afghan/Pakistan border, surprisingly if an Al Qaeda purpose/base has been observed. I doubt if he means a floor occupation of Pakistani soil yet i'm in basic terms speculating. The irony is, if there is yet another floor attack on U.S. soil, there could be public sentiment to flow after the terrorist, anyplace they could be, in spite of if that's concentrated on on Pakistani soil. i've got faith on the instant, the shortcoming of yet another 9/11 is retaining public sentiment in verify.

Oil really is not that big a deal; the ENTIRE MIDDLE EAST provides only 11% of our entire usage. (Business Reports)
The REAL issue is Communist Russia, now as it has been for the past 80 years and more.
