Some British Guy...LOL.
In order to sell a fight, one will act dignified (Oscar, Hatton, Vargas), the other will just trash talk and hype (Floyd, Floyd, Mayorga). I's the classic good guy - bad guy, white hat - black hat scenario used to hype a big fight that has been in operation since about 1910, when Jack Johnson fought Jim Jeffries, and it still works, and still draws big bucks. It's obvious, really - give the fans a reason to care about a fight, get them involved and absorbed by the fight, and they will want to buy the PPV or watch the fight to see the outcome.

I keep on with MMA and that i are conscious of it is not all of us's cup-o-tea yet Quinton Jackson has some great sound bites. Now that he's a champ i'm going to guess good issues come to UFC. a pair humorous ones: Q: Do you sense slighted which you would be able to desire to combat a "better" fighter interior the Grand Prix than Wanderlei? A: Slighted!? sh*t do no longer use enormous words i'm in basic terms a fighter. Q: the place do you notice your self in 2 years? A: enable's see good now im 23, so in 2 years I see myself at 25.

Since you opted to generalize about " some other idiotic American boxer "...I now feel compelled to generalize about " all idiotic British boxers ". ---- The answer is simple.....American boxers talk the talk, walk the walk & act brash because they have more than enough Boxing Skills & Ability to back it up. Brits may view American boxers as ghetto.....but Americans view British boxers as pansy like Little Lord Fauntleroy types. We are talking Boxing here.....not a Cricket Match. Since actions speak so much louder than words.....I can just imagine all the lame excuses I'll be hearing on Dec. 9 attempting to explain exactly why Ricky lost saying things like: " Ricky had one of those rotten British toothaches...that's why he lost ! "....or " PBF trained on Steak & Protein Shakes but all Ricky had was Bangers & Mash + Ale ".....or....." Ricky injured his hand in a robust game of darts just before the fight "..........Lastly...a good deal of this trash talk has been directed toward making enough fans believe that Ricky has a chance in this fight in order to fill the seats & according to what I have read they must have succeeded because I understand there will be many British arses plunked in those seats.

I'll give this one my best shot.
I suspect there are two factors working in this situation.
Trash talking is an attention getting device. We have it down to a science. It is also an interest generator. If you like my talk you'll buy tickets, if you don't like my talk, you'll buy tickets in hopes that I will loose.
When Muhammad Ali was fighting he would talk much smack about his upcoming performance in the ring. He had fans who loved him because he delivered and fans who hated him because he delivered. But I am willing to say that he is the fighter who changed the silent boxer.
However, the boxers that you named-hello-they are from "ghetto" backgrounds. It is a role that has made them money. They know this works. It got your attention.
And you can only act like you really are in reality. No class is no class.

Actually it is the minority of American fighters but it seems that the ones who are "rude" get the most press. Like Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, James Toney, Zab Judah and other trash talkers. There are many humble Americans as well. Oscar De La Hoya is one of the most popular humble fighters but there are many - Shane Mosely, Kelly Pavlik, Evander Hollyfield, and the list goes on.
The rudeness isn't strictly an American thing either, as Ricardo Mayorga of Panama is probably one of the worst. Also African fighter Edison Miranda showed absolutely no respect to Kelly Pavlik before their match up which made it that much sweeter when he was knocked out. I agree that Mayweather over steps boundries and would like to see Ricky Hatton beat him. Perhaps just as many tune in to see those fighters lose as those who tune in to see them win.

Speaking from an American perspective, I have to tell you it's an unfortunate result of the over all decay of our society that happened to spill over into the few remaining decent boxers we currently have holding titles here in America. Over the past 25 years American society, and the middle class in general has declined significantly. The arrogance of such insecurity and false bravado is an embarrassing side effect of our over all social decay. As sad as it seems such behavior transcends boxing. It pains me to see such behavior, but that thug mentality is a result of the serious and widening rift between the corporate elite upper class of American society and the vast majority of the general population who are treated as nothing more than cattle by the upper class.
Both Republican and Democratic political policy over the past quarter century in the U.S. has all but destroyed America's middle class. There is little economic hope for millions of Americans, due to a multitude of problems the Federal and State Government's simply ignore. The "have nots" express their social and economic frustration with an almost criminal disrespect and the arrogance that comes off as impotent and vulgar.
I apologize for my countrymen and their disrespectful attitudes, I wish they understood how poorly most decent people look upon their behavior, unfortunately they appear too immature and ignorant to care how others view them.
Know that most Americans frown upon the "thug mentality" and would prefer a little more class out of such people, unfortunately one can only be held responsible for ones own behavior, others must answer for theirs.
Hopefully one day they will see their behavior for what it is.....weak and impotently insulting. Not all of us act that way unfortunately those that do sometimes get more press coverage and it stains the vast majority of decent respectful people who maintain a certain level of respectability.

That is done to create more hype for the fight and subsequently an increase in boxing revenues.

Don't believe the hype. You can also see Mayweather and Hatton talking politely and respectfully when the mic isn't near. The talk is all pretend, just like wrasslin.

How else can they get the attention that they get. How can they get the audience worked up. It is all a game of trying to get the other guy mad, so he lets his anger take over and his skill is forgotten. when your mad, you can't think what is the best thing to do, just that you are going to beat someone up.
