I am fostering a shar-pei-german shepherd dog mix, medium-sized and house-trained. Her coat is very short and not thick. The thing is after I take her out, she would smell YUCKY! at the end of the day. I bathe her once a week. I don't like to bathe her daily because she will lose her coat"s natural oil. So what should I do to let her smell good every day? Is there a cheap perfume for a dog?

Oh, definitely, the dog's in good shape. She looks like a military man's dog. She listens well when you tell her to sit, stay, get the ball, drop the ball and shake hands. She's so adorable. I just don't like the "outside smell" in her when she's already inside the house because it fills up the whole living area.

Thanks to everybody for your advice :)

They make sprays everywhere for dogs. Here's one-http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2755256&cp=&sr=1&origkw=scent&kw=scent&kwCatId=2767032&parentPage=search&keepsr=1

First, I would have her seen by a veterinarian to make sure the smell isn't a bad infection. Pyoderma (a skin infection) can smell awlful. I'd also have them check the anal sacs and make sure they aren't full and check the teeth.

The last time a friend complained about her dog smelling bad despite bathing, I looking in the dog's mouth to find it filled with pus due to horrible dental disease.

Oh, this is a commom question. To rid the "outside" smell get some dog cologne. Your local groomer or pet store has a vast variety of it and you can spray her daily if needed. http://www.petedge.com

if the above does not appeal to you, they make dry shampoo for dogs available at any petstore, also, in the meantime, you could dust the dog woth a bit of baby powder!
