Golden retrievers are such nice dogs, I just don't think you can go wrong with either gender. Remember that much of what you are worried about is solved by training and spaying/neutering, if not all. EVERY dog, regardless of breed or gender, should be trained with help from a certified trainer. Most people--even previous dog owners--don't really know the newest and best techniques to train. Many rescues, myself included, use certified trainers despite our often broad experience. A good, postive method trainer is worth their weight in gold! It can mean the difference between a dog that is a nuisance and a dog that you take everywhere and which serves as a great ambassador for its species and breed. A good canine citizen is lauded by friend and stranger alike! In regard to cost, neutering a male is generally less expensive that spaying a female, but considering the long life you will enjoy together, in the long run it makes little difference. I personally own both males and females, have had goldens and golden x males and females. Each is/was unique. The most important thing is that you get a healthy dog that you bond with. The rest will fall into place naturally! Best of luck to you!

well if you are looking for a puppy then i would go to like puppys.com and if you just want one of those no matter what age then go to like a shelter they are at more a of a risk then any other dogs because they kill those ones. and the breaders don't! and shelter dogs are alot less like 50$ and the breaders are more like 500$
