ok i download AVI. movies or tv shows on my pc(legally) how can i view them on my ps3?? it always says bad data corrupted or sumthing like that. but if i have a mpeg file it'll play fine. i do have it networking wit eachother, any one know how to do this please help or tell me what to do (i have the 60g ps3) i do have a san disk and memory stick also if this will help thanks

Currently, you will not be able to view them on your PS3. At least not without some work. You could convert the file into a mpeg and then it could be played by the PS3. AVI is just a container really, so don't let that fool you. It all depends on what codec was used during encoding. Currently the PS3 only support mpeg 2 and 4 I believe.

Sony has announced that they will be adding divx and presumably xvid support native to the box in a future update to the firmware.

Another option would be to use something like Nero MediaHome to send out the file in a format that the PS3 can see.

So the long and short is that right now, without either loading Linux on the PS3, or converting the file, you cannot play that AVI on your PS3.

It's an easy fix brother....

you just need to download a File converter, once you download your movies and shows run the file through the converter so the PS3 can play it.

It has to do with this blue-ray disk thing.. you cant just put in a normal burnt movie in it.. in needs a special format..
