Unfortunately, a lot of the world still likes to have it a taboo thing. But you have to realize that not everybody has the same opinion. Various forms of witchcraft can be regional, and therefore acceptance can be regional as well.

As HD alluded, there are two possible responses--the world's view ON witchcraft. which you have well represented here already, and the worldview OF witchcraft, about which you may or may not have actually been inquiring.

The worldview of Wicca is largely indistinguishable from that of xianity, though most Wiccans would take considerable umbrage at that assertion. The worldview of *witchcraft* is a more complex question, and largely dependent on the worldview of the practitioner, since witchcraft occurs in a wide range of cultures. One would not expect a rural Italian strega, for example, to have the same worldview as a Mexican bruja or Haitian voudoun, even though the mechanics of their magical practices might be similar.

There is a mixed world view at this time. In some third world countries, they sometimes still accuse people of being witches when someone gets sick or dies. Every once in a while, you can see international stories from Africa or India where some unfortunate person has been declared a witch and killed by an ignorant mob.

In the modern world, there are generally three different types of beliefs that are common.
1.) The fundamentalist christian belief, which is that witchcraft is evil and has to do with devil worship. As with most fundamentalist beliefs, this belief is an unfortunate third world belief that has been kept alive in the modern world by particularly ignorant people.
2.) Witchcraft is imaginary and silly. This is generally the belief held by atheist-types and some more mainstream christian-types.
3.) Witchcraft is just another religion. This was originally a new-age view of witchcraft, but its becoming more and more accepted as a common view of witchcraft in the modern world. This is basically due to the growth of Wicca and its emergence as a popular minority religion.

Ok do you want the world's view, or the worldview. They are two completely different things.
Many here have given you the world's view.
The worldview isn't anything on "witchcraft". It's a practice, not a religion. Now if you are looking for the worldview on Wicca, or another path, you'll have to be more specific.

The majority of people don't understand witches or witchcraft because of the disinformation that has been spread about us over the past several centuries by the Church. They think it's evil or devil worship. It is neither. We do not believe in or worship satan. Satan is part of the Christian mythos, to which Witches do not subscribe.

There is much misunderstanding of what witchcraft actually is Unfortunately it is often associated with satan, which is ridiculously far off the mark.

Most societies are against it and think of it as evil, however there are some societies that embrace it whole heartedly and even consider it a way of life

Most people in the world probably don't like it, mainly because they have the wrong idea about it. I really don't see anything wrong with it.

It's terribly misunderstood because of the comments of ignorant fools who think they know what it's about and continue to 'bear false witness' against it.

Political correctness tells us that everything is ok...as long as it doesnt hurt or invade in on anothers life or beliefs...yet i submit to you that in Truth, witchcraft does exactly that. Witchcraft is rampant in our world today....being practiced by some that don't even realize what they are doing. For example: when a woman uses sex to intice...this is a form of witchcraft. I look for it to only get worse.
