One answer from Europe: that depends entirely on the company you are dealing with. It is English that comes as a standard requirement, so chances are it could just be enough :-)

Depends on the job. I know several people with fantasic jobs here (in Zurich) who only speak English...whereas I was recently turned down for a job teaching English because my German wasn't good enough. (It's good enough that the interview was in German.)

you might still need to know a different language like spanish and french and maybe some German to get by.

you will probably need to learn some german, and alot of people speak spanish too, but primarily they rely on english, afterall, its the greatest language on earth!
