I saw a Tv show last night and this Indian guy was getting really mouthy to the policeman and the policeman just took it.

In countries like Spain the guy would likely have got a thick lip at the least for his mouth.

Police are seen as being too soft because we aren't allowed to do a great deal to the criminals any more due to the constraints of the laws put in place to protect the criminals.

In my experience, if an officer is accused of using excessive force, the Police service will usually believe the word of the complainant over the officer in the first instance, which doesn't give the officers much faith in the system.

One example is the case where an officer who had witnessed someone hit a man over the head with a hammer, struck him twice on the leg with his baton when he was detained and was accused of using excessive force by the judge hearing the case against the suspect for the assault. This resulted in the officer being suspended and a long investigation where the officer was eventually and quite rightly found to not be at fault by his actions.

The long and short of it is that with this distinct lack of support, officers are very often too scared to use an appropriate level of force for fear of prosecution.

The reason the Police ran away was not because they realized the Simpsons was on at 6:30pm. But because of the danger that they were putting themselves in. Secondly Great Britain does have a good police system, the bad ones are just spread around the world because that's what makes news. Stop watching Hot Fuzz and The Thin Blue Line. If that was America I can promise you that you that you would retreat. Not to say America has uglier uniform than the British.

Over the past 30 years I have watched this situation come to be. I joined the police in the 1970's and at that time we behaved as the Spanish do now. Over the 30 years the public were more ready to complain about policemen and the supervisors, who were graduates or whatever, with no or little street experience, allowed the erosion of the beat policeman's ability to function. That and the Thurso Slap has caused this situation.

police are not soft in England they are watched by big brother it is the government and political correctness and the rights of foreigners to our country if i went to another country especially Spain i know look at a policeman the wrong way and you are beaten and charged with no reproductions to the officer as in other country's you abide by there ways and cultures or you are punished and you expect It.
In this country we are made to turn a blind eye to almost every thing and just concentrate on our lives if we speak out tell of wrong doing we are blamed two world wars we fought for our rights to free speech freedom of movement and the right to be British i think they told us lies we must of lost that war were are our rights i am not getting at any body from another country just stating a point we have a weak government

This is political correctness and an example of multi-culturalism..
People of Indian race and origin are treated differently from true Brits. Any time that a police officer touches one, they scream racism to the roof tops. The officer is suspended until the case is investigated by a special team of police officers who are fully employed to do nothing else but abuse their colleagues on the say so of some person from the Indian sub-continent.

As a Spanish friend of mine said, "The police here are not racist. They treat everyone like negros!"

Good point you raised there .
The answer is quite simple really . Its how the Government Work .

Lets face it the government are full of shi t . They want the military to fight wars with harsh words . They underfund everything apart from their own pockets . We have an army with no firepower thats of any use . The police are mainly UNARMED even your basic burglar is packing a gun nowadays . We have Yardies / Triads and Thugs running areas of OUR country .
The answer is simple and inevitable lets have a CIVIL uprising and clean our own streets of this scum . Then create a peoples parliament .

I think it is because the Brittish are so polite. In South Africa the police will also not take any ... from anyone. The only thing is nowadays most criminals watch too much american TV and then want to sue the poor SA Police for the slightest thing.

Because our country has gone to the dogs. Everything about the place is insane. We now live in a society where criminals rule and can get away, literally, with murder. A world where you can break into someone's house and if they throw you out, you can sue THEM! A world where adults are scared to discipline demonic children lest an army of maniacs with the full backing of the law put you away for child abuse. The world is mad and if you are unfortunate enough to be one of the sane few like me, it is nothing short of Hell.

Because of the the same people who are demanding the Chief of Police resigns because some poor bloke got unlucky when cops were trying to prevent hundreds being bombed to hell.

Its a shame he died but he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was being targeted by a surveillance squad - I wonder why??
