In true science, debate is welcomed as a way to see flaws in a theory, and to find a way to correct those flaws, thus bettering the theory. But what we're seeing today about the so-called "theory" of anthropogenic global warming is that the alarmists are hushing up any dissenters, and claiming that there is no debate. In my opinion, that is proof that this is no longer science. It's politics.

If the alarmists really cared about the earth, they would ENCOURAGE debate as a way to make sure that they were doing to right thing, so as to prevent any disasterous mistakes on our part. They just want our money and our freedom.

I've got to agree, that global warming is more politics than science. So many politicians and celebrities think they're experts on the subject.

There's always been politics in science as in every human activity, though it is usually confined to small groups of researchers and their peers.

Science is objective. The facts are based on provable data, not by a vote, or consensus of select people.

No one debates the distance the Earth is from the Sun, or the speed of light. These can be shown by anyone with the will.

Now the UN negotiated the last report on global warming to insure everyone got a fair share. Huh?

Tell me this is science.

I think there has been a tendency for some scientists/climatologists to be passionate about this issue. I think many of these scientists are very anxious to get the policians to require carbon reductions worldwide. They see the glaciers melting, and realize that their computer models were generally correct. There is a "point of no return" here, and it's coming up fast.

I think it is still scientific, because you can only base your answers on scientific reasoning, but it is political as well. Something that is being asked of all candidates for president and all is what are they going to do about global warming.

It is real, but it requires political action to change industry and social constructs. We must all work on using less and recycling more as individuals as well.
