You had better measure that bird
it may not fit in the oven...
My oven is 16in - top to bottom and just - 12in top to bottom rack. ????
20 - 24lb = 6 1/2 - 7 hrs @ 325F
BUT a
12 - 16lb = 4 1/2 - 5 1/2hrs ???
30 = 9 to 10 ???
thermometer in the thigh 180 - 185F
I have
"thawing in the refrigerator"
18lbs and over 2 -3 days

Well, if you defrost it in the fridge, any turkey should be taken out 3-4 days before cooking so today would be actually like last minute for the size turkey she has, I am planning to take mine out this afternoon(it says on the wrapper to take out 3-4 days ahead and if you don't have that much time left take and put it in cold water in the sink the day of cooking) and putting it in the fridge and it is only a 12 lbs turkey.
Also, type in recipes in the yahoo search box and go to different cooking websites and get a recipe for cooking it, and again, the easiest way is to read the wrapper thoroughly it has a lot of good info on it even how long to cook it per lb. Hope this helps.

A turkey that large would take a long time to thaw in the fridge. I would allow at least five full days. As for the cooking time, check the wrapper for the instructions, as there should be a guide for the weight, temperature and time (based on number of pounds.) The instructions on those wrappers are excellent. I just hope you have no trouble finding a roasting pan big enough for such a large bird.

Since the other guy gave instructons already, I have a suggestion...instead of doing a turkey that big...try two smaller turkeys. They cook quicker (you can do them at the same time) and you get more legs : )
