What do you think about the state of the world today? Does your instinct tell you that it's all building up to something? Perhaps the end of the world as we know it?

Obviously, us Christian "fundies" believe that we are living in the "last days", just prior to the return of Christ to judge the world, based upon things we see taking place on earth which match up with Bible prophecy. I appreciate that you don't share that view, but what are your thoughts, anyway?

Is there a "bad moon rising"?

Thanks in advance for all sincere, polite replies. May God bless you. x

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

In respect of there currently being no "world wars", true. Although we had TWO as recently as less than a century ago.

Currently, we have war in Iraq, Afghanistan, and armed conflicts in other places...

It all comes down to ducks in the end. Just watch the little feathered swine. They are about to join forces with the other evil empire of the animal kingdom (the ants) and launch a bid for world domination.
I know people will think this is a crazy post, but that's just what they want you to think. We must act now. Eat more duck and stomp ants whenever you get the chance or soon it will be too late. The forces of duckdom are massing in western France - I've seen great armies of them in holding camps near Challans.
Remember it has happened before to the Brits. In 1066 they were invaded and enslaved by William, Duc de Normandie.

I definitely think things are not going so great nowadays. But, I also know from experience how amazingly fast things can turn on a dime. In only a few years time you can go from civil war to flourishing tourism in acountry. All it takes is a shift in the paradigm, and a cahnge in leadership. Both of those can happen rapidly and radically.
As for the 'end times', every generation of has believed that NOW is the end time for the last 2000 years. If it hasn't happened yet, I'm not too worried about.

Things aren't exactly peachy, but then I doubt the people facing Genghis Khan's hordes, the slaves taken into Egypt, the Jews in WW2, medieval peasants suffering taxation, serfdom and the plague, the native North American peoples when invaded by syphillitic, gun toting Europeans, victims of the Inquistion and various others thought life was all fun and games either.

Humans are basically bastards to each other. Until we change, whether due to fear of God, or just because it would be a better idea, there's going to be pain, death and destruction.

I don't think we're any closer to seeing four dodgy looking horsemen now then we were a millenium ago.

I believe the world as we know it is at an end. Not that this is the end of the world, just that a huge shift is about to occur that will change everything as we know it. There is too much building for nothing to happen. At some point it will hit the critical point and all that we know now will change forever. Whether that be for good or bad, I can't say. I would hope good, as the world in it's current state is full of bad.

As some have already mentioned, the end of the world has been predicted so many times. Nothing makes this time more applicable than the last time someone wanted it to end.

The world will end one day. Maybe humanity to. But I don't think it will be anytime soon.

Here's a question to test your faith. If you are so sure, when you die would you give me all your money? If you are right then no-one will have any use of it so it shouldn't be a problem right?

"Obviously, us Christian "fundies" believe that we are living in the "last days", just prior to the return of Christ to judge the world,"

That is rather big headed of religious types to consider themselves soooo special that their imaginary friend will descend out of the clouds and on to planet earth, within their own life time. This is delusional thinking by any standards.

jesus is never coming back to earth, the whole jesus story is pure fiction, nothing more.

I don't think it is the end of days. The cold war is over with no threat of nuclear war. Global warming is a bad problem but with the publication of the UN's climate change report will hopefully shift us into action and lead to a better world.

I completely agree that the world has gone a bit mental in the last few decades.....And yeah I suppose it appears to be "escalating", I believe the climactic side of things (earthquakes, floods, storms, tsunamis etc) are a result of our poor environmental upkeeping. It's builidng and escalating because little or no pro-active solutions have been put into effect on a large scale. On the war/famine side of things, this is purely the result of politics, greed, religious differences and hate: All human aspects, not divine. Interesting question :)

Unless the US government realises that the States is the top polluter in world and stop sticking its head in the sand, then the end of days is when the planet becomes unlivable.
That happens and you won't want to get resurrected on whatever judgement day your mythology tells you, because Earth will be hell.

No - just that we now have greater access to world media.

Was the world coming to the end int the late 18th early 19th C when monarchs were beheaded, the whole world was at war and a major power had declared itself Atheist?

Was the world coming to an end when millions dead over a little peace of land in France? And a massive country became atheist, turning to communism as a solution to its problems?

Was the world coming to an end when yet more millions dead and 6 million Jews were massacred just for their genetic inheritance? and another massive empire became atheism and turned to communism to resolve its problems?

Was the world coming to the end when the hordes of the east sacked Rome and it turned to Christianity to resolve its problems?

Because they all though it at the time.

As for the all the stuff about the book of revelations - that is all just for Christians.
